Regional Behavioral Health Center (RBHC) is a psychiatric hospital operated by the private, community-based health network of Rapid City Regional Hospital in South Dakota. At RBHC, women, men, and children can receive residential care for mental health and substance use disorders, as well as medication management and diagnostic services on an outpatient basis.

Prior to admission to the facility's residential unit, clients must receive a physical exam and referral from an emergency room. Treatment then follows a bio-psychosocial model, addressing multiple aspects of each individual's conditions and recovery needs.

Staff specializing in chemical dependency create individualized treatment plans, which tend to incorporate ongoing evaluation, individual and group counseling, occupational and recreational therapy, and family sessions. Pastoral care is also available.

Outpatient programming can be utilized as aftercare or as introductory treatment, and clients typically meet with individual doctors at the center or attend group meetings. Medication management and psychiatric diagnostic interviewing are available for individuals of any age.

The hospital employs a multidisciplinary team that is led by board-certified psychiatrists. Other staff members include psychiatric nurses, social workers, and chemical dependency specialists.

To date, there are no details regarding living arrangements or related offerings on the facility's website, however, responses from the four individuals polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing indicated overall satisfaction with general accommodations. A metric measuring the quality of meals and nutrition received an average rating of four stars out of five. Opinions of the facility's cleanliness and upkeep were a little less favorable, with two ratings of three stars and one of five.

The three alumni who submitted reviews to Rehabs.com provided mixed feedback on their treatment experiences. Just two responded to a prompt on the overall effectiveness of treatment, choosing four and two stars, respectively. On the other hand, both respondents were impressed with the level of staff training and experience, awarding five stars apiece.

One alum, who indicated they had received treatment more than a decade prior to their review, would recommend the program but offered comments suggesting the need for longer-term treatment.

Additionally, at the time of this writing, there were five ratings on Google for the facility that averaged 2.6 out of five stars.[1] One alum identified the program's helpfulness as a strength, writing: "Staff was great listeners." Still, a couple who gave just one star expressed disappointment with their experiences.

The one loved one polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing provided a glowing review, with a five-star rating for opportunities for family involvement in the treatment process. "Very pleased with the professionalism, (knowledge) and abilities of staff," they wrote.

There was also a single review from a loved one on Google to date. Neil gave one out of five stars and wrote that his diabetic son was not properly cared for. "He told the staff his blood sugars were high and they refused to let him check his blood sugar or receive insulin more than 4 times a day, despite me telling them he needed it more to be well controlled."

According to the facility's website, Medicare, Medicaid, and most commercial insurance plans are accepted. Additionally, financial assistance is available to those who qualify.

At the time of this writing, an OSHA review of the facility was underway, responding to a complaint filed by former employees alleging an "unsafe work environment, according to a March 2017 US News article. A hospital representative quoted in the article reported that the facility was working to make safety-related changes.

Gather facts on several choices of treatment ctrs available and the length of time is important.Example-If you drank for 30 years, slim chances you can stop drinking and stay stopped for 30 days. Especially without aftercare.
