Recovery Management Services, Inc. (RMS), located in Concord, Calif., offers residential, outpatient, and sober living treatment to adults seeking treatment for substance abuse and chemical dependency. RMS is one of California’s 699 (53.3 percent) private, nonprofit organizations, and also uses the name Crossroads Program Services. Detox is not available on-site.

The facility’s treatment philosophy is based on the 12-Steps. To be admitted, clients must contact the facility directly by phone or email to schedule an assessment. Most clients remain in treatment between 30 and 90 days, making it one of the 440 (33.6 percent) of California treatment facilities to offer long-term treatment options.

Recovery Management Services provides five different treatment programs, and clients often progress between programs as they recover. The Crossroads Full-Treatment Center offers intensive residential treatment for adults who are just beginning their recovery. The program includes family services to help clients repair their support network. Education is also an important component of the process. Clients stick to a regimented schedule with 324-hour oversight so that they can make the most progress possible.

The Working Person’s Program and continuing care program allow clients to return to full-time work while maintaining residence at an RMS facility and continuing to receive treatment. The Working Person’s program is designed to provide day and living services for professionals so that they can continue to work during treatment.

The outpatient program is intended for clients who do not need residential support but would like to continue counseling and treatment. Finally, RMS offers sober residences for clients who would like to continue living in a sober environment after completing treatment.

Throughout each program, clients have access to relapse prevention training and a regular physical fitness regimen. Aftercare is available for all clients who successfully complete the program. Recovery Management Services invites alumni to return to support meetings and events occurring a minimum of three times a week. Weekly alumni meetings include advanced relapse prevention, a 12-step meeting, and a communication skills workshop. The facility also hosts a monthly alumni association meeting as well as guest speaker events.

The treatment staff at Crossroads includes trained and experienced counselors as well as group therapy leaders. Alumni play a big part in the operation of the alumni programs, especially the meetings.

Recovery Management Services has several treatment and recovery facilities located in residential areas of Concord, CA. The men and women’s residential programs at Recovery Management Services are located in separate buildings, and the facility also maintains transitional living residences for program alumni who would like to live in a sober environment. Each residence is managed by an administrative and management team with experience assisting clients in rehab.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY has not yet received any feedback from alumni of Recovery Management Service to date. On the facility’s Yelp page, there are 30 mixed reviews, including seven one-star reviews and two two-star reviews that are not currently recommended[1][2] The reviews are either extremely positive or extremely negative.

Fourteen individuals complained about staff. Alum R.H. wrote in a representative negative review, “This place is a joke. Most of the people at this facility do not have an education (including the staff). No one here is really qualified to be teaching what they are trying to teach.”

However, other alumni expressed positive feedback. At least 10 reviews gave positive feedback about one specific staff member who went above and beyond to help them. J.J., an alum, gave five stars and wrote, “I got my relationship with my 2 children back that I had not had in 4 years, I became employable again, I found spirituality through the twelve steps, and I found myself for the first time in my life. All of this was from the guidance of the staff.

At the time of this writing, three loved ones provided mostly negative feedback about Crossroads. Loved ones gave two out of five stars or lower for its holistic offerings, affordability, available counseling options, and treatment for co-occurring disorders. One loved one wrote how the facility didn’t address the client’s co-occurring disorders. Another wrote how “For single diagnosis patients who are serious and have money, this be a way to get back on track but the facility is limited in resources and if a person requires medication, physician care etc...this is not the place to go.”

Crossroads charges a fee for counseling services, but alumni services are free to clients that complete the program. The facility is focused on making low-cost counseling services readily available.

Long term stay encouraged, structured days, organized schedule and clients are kept busy with their recovery. Lack of holistic and exercise program, no physician on sight, lack of experienced dual diagnosis counselors, program cost is too high for what is NOT offered. Some staff are difficult. For single diagnosis patients who are serious and have money, this be a way to get back on track but the facility is limited in resources and if a person requires medication, physician care etc...this is not the place to go.
