ABOUT RECOVERY RESOURCES

Recovery Resources specializes in outpatient treatment for adults and adolescents struggling with co-occurring addiction and mental health disorders. In addition to addressing chemical dependency, the facility offers intervention services and programs focused on compulsive gambling and HIV/AIDS prevention.

Recovery Resources is a private nonprofit facility, which make up about 80 percent of all treatment facilities in Ohio. The organization has three outpatient locations in the Cleveland, Ohio, area, including in the Midtown and Old Brooklyn neighborhoods of Cleveland, and in Lakewood, Ohio. Supportive housing is also available for clients receiving substance misuse or mental illness treatment.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Individuals may participate in an initial assessment process on a walk-in basis five days a week, according to Recovery Resources website. This process is used to determine the best treatment plan to meet each client’s needs and circumstances.

Clients who have lived with addiction for a long time are encouraged to participate in an intensive outpatient program, a program tack offered at only 221 (54.4 percent) Ohio facilities. Dual diagnosis treatment is offered through two tracks based on which disorder (substance use or mental health) is more prominent.

Programming primarily consists of group therapy and educational sessions, focused on trigger recognition, coping skills, and relapse prevention. Treatment plans also incorporate individual counseling and case management, and some include drug screenings.

The facility’s specialized groups address topics relevant to specific clients, such as a trauma-informed, gender-specific intensive program for women and transition-oriented adolescent treatment.

All three locations host 12-step meetings. Additionally, Recovery Resources provides employment assistance and outpatient-based psychiatric services such as medication management.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

The multidisciplinary treatment team includes board certified psychiatrists, registered nurses, licensed therapists specializing in areas such as adolescent treatment and addiction, and social workers.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

Recovery Resources operates about half a dozen supportive housing facilities for approximately 100 clients living with mental illness and addiction in Cleveland and surrounding towns. According to the Recovery Resources website, accommodations range from single-family apartments to co-op group housing.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

At time of writing, no alumni of Recovery Resources have left reviews on Rehabs.com. However, reviews on secondary sites tended to trend positively.

Trends on secondary review sites were generally positive. Of 41 reviews written on Facebook by alumni, most gave four- or five-star reviews.[1] Favorable reviews tended to highlight the consistent and successful help received. Recovery Resources staff may manage reviews on the facility’s official Facebook page.

On Google, twelve alumni echoed this positive sentiment.[2] One representative alum, AJ, wrote: "An incredible resource for the Greater Cleveland community for drug, alcohol, gambling and other addictions, mental health and other health care concerns, as well as job placement, vocational training, and food assistance. If you are in NEED please come to this place. They are here for you."

In contrast, two alumni gave mixed reviews of the facility on CiteHealth, giving ratings of one star and five stars respectively.[3] One alum wrote that the program “didn’t work” for them, and the other represented staff as caring and patient.

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

The sole loved one polled by Rehabs.com commented on the limited approach to treatment at the facility. Although offering ratings of four stars each for the adequacy of staffing and other means to treat co-occurring disorders and for the level of staff’s training and experience, the anonymous loved one described the program as “Not broad enough and not long enough.”

The loved one did cite “nice counselors” and “group therapy” as facility strengths and indicated that opportunities for family to participate in the treatment process were also strong.

WHAT STAFF SAY

Feedback received by Rehabs.com from two anonymous staff members was mixed. The two staff members agreed on the strength of treatment for co-occurring disorders, opportunities for family participation, affordability, and the admission and discharge procedures. They also agreed that counseling was a weakness. However, they disagreed on holistic treatment and options for counseling. One staff member rated their likelihood to recommend Recovery Resources five stars while the other gave a rating of three stars.

FINANCING

Recovery Resources features several charitable funds on its website which help clients to receive treatment regardless of their ability to pay. Few details are available from the facility regarding financial arrangements, however the instructions for intake indicate that some insurance is accepted. CiteHealth and HealthGrove also indicate that Medicaid and Medicare are accepted and a sliding fee scale available.

Serve a lot of clients with good outcomes. Several locations, great staff, clean offices. not enough clinicians.

Nice counselors. Group therapy. Not broad enough and not long enough I think it was fine and I'm not sure that there is anything better, but my loved one relapsed after treatment and never did get clean. I don't think that was their fault though. He just wasn't motivated.
