Serving the Alcorn, Prentiss, Tippah, and Tishomingo Counties since 1973, and expanding its services to Desoto County in 2010, Region IV Mental Health Services offers a continuum of treatment services for individuals struggling with substance use, mental health, and co-occurring disorders. The Alcorn facility in the community of Corinth offers residential treatment, both standard outpatient programs (OP) and intensive outpatient programs (IOP), subsidized housing, and a crisis stabilization unit.


According to its website, Region IV focuses on offering comprehensive, person-centered treatment, where clients direct their own treatment and are placed at appropriate levels of care. Types of services include targeted case management, community support, psychiatric and physician care, and peer support.

To treat individuals struggling with a primary psychiatric disorder, programming at the Alcorn facility includes individual, group, and family psychotherapy, educational classes, medication management, as well as case management and nursing services. An adolescent offenders program is also available.

The Region IV Chemical Dependency Clinic in Alcorn offers residential treatment for adults struggling with primary and secondary alcohol and drug addiction, as well as an IOP and aftercare services. Programming for chemical dependency may include a combination of counseling sessions, coping skills workshops, educational classes, and an introduction to self-help fellowships. IOP treatment lasts ten weeks. A DUI diagnostic assessment is available, as well as family support and education services.

In addition, the facility provides intellectual disability (ID) and developmental disability (DD) services; pre-vocational and supported employment services; and a supervised living program for ID and DD male clients.


Region IV employs a 24-hour consultant, nurses, a psychiatrist, and physician.


The Region IV CDC offers housing for 24 male and 12 female clients through its residential program to treat primary and secondary substance use disorders. Subsidized housing consists of 18 one-bedroom apartments and one for a resident manager. Offices are open weekdays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.


There are currently no reviews of the Alcorn Region IV facility, but ten reviewers to date on its unofficial Facebook page rated the Hernando location an average 3.1 out of five stars, with five positive reviews, one mixed, and four negative.[1] Positive reviewers left no comments, while negative reviewers, mostly loved ones, complained of poor treatment from staff.


On Indeed, four current and former employees to date rated Region IV in Alcorn an average four out of five stars.[2] One reviewer felt the facility was underemployed, but two others wrote that it was well-funded and efficiently ran. A case manager wrote: "Great resource to the community.."

On Glassdoor, Region IV as a whole received an average 2.3 out of five stars from eight current and former employees to date, with two positive, two mixed, and four negative reviews.[3] Employees mostly complained of inconsistent management and disorganization.
