Founded in 1990, Rimrock Trails Adolescent Treatment Services (ATS) offers residential care for youth aged 12 to 17 and outpatient programming for youth and young adults. The rehab center, headquartered in the central Oregon town of Prineville, is among Oregon’s 33 (just 14.6 percent) to provide long-term residential treatment. Nationally, just 26 percent of treatment facilities offer programming tailored for adolescents. Rimrock Trails specializes in dual diagnosis treatment and holistic care.

In addition to Prineville, outpatient programming is available in Bend and Redmond.

Services at Rimrock Trails begin with a biopsychosocial assessment conducted by a clinical therapist, according to the facility’s website. The length of treatment varies depending on the client's level of need, but is typically between two and six months, with an average of 12 weeks for outpatient programs.

In Oregon, 51.8 percent of treatment facilities offer treatment tailored for clients with co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders. At Rimrock Trails ATS, evidence-based dual diagnosis treatment is integrated, designed to help residents to regulate their emotions, build interpersonal skills, and tolerate distress.

In pursuit of these goals, the center emphasizes experiential therapies such as art therapy, outdoor excursions, and equine therapy. In addition, the center uses a strengths-based, trauma-informed modality called collaborative problem solving (CPS). Clients can expect to participate in a mix of practices drawing from SMART Recovery and the 12-Steps, motivational interviewing (MI), mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and trauma-oriented eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR),

Rimrock Trails also stresses the importance of aftercare, providing a monitoring service as well as referrals to local resources.

The staff at Rimrock Trails Adolescent Treatment Services includes master's-level therapists, social workers, and certified alcohol and drug counselors (CADC).

The Rimrock Trails Prineville setting is near the mouth of Ochoco Creek on Crooked River. Residents have access to an on-site gym, weight room, and indoor climbing wall. According to the NATSAP directory, the campus learning center services 20 residential clients.

Rehabs.com has not yet received any reviews from Rimrock Trails ATC’s alumni, affiliated friends or family members, or staff; however, secondary sites yielded consistently favorable feedback for the facility. On Google, five reviewers gave the facility an average rating of 3.8 out of five stars.[1] Two staffers submitted reviews on Indeed, both presenting a positive work environment and one describing pride in working with clients to “move on and believe in themselves.”[2]

Rimrock Trails is in-network with many insurance providers, and services are available at no cost for individuals who are eligible for Oregon Medicaid, according to the facility’s website.

Please parents, do NOT send your child here. This place treats children like animals. I'm sure the 3.8 star review on Google is from staffers, because I doubt any child that's been forced to endure the emotional torture of Rimrock would ever give it more than one star. Let's put it this way, if there were hidden cameras in this place and people saw what goes on, it would be shut down in a heartbeat. Sadly, the options are limited for children under 17 for any kind of residential treatment. There are highly accredited facilities and for the price, you're better off sending them out of the area if you want quality treatment for your child. At the very least, send them to a place where they are treated with kindness and respect and positive reinforcement. Not this place, where they are treated like slaves, are barely allowed to speak, must shower with five other guys in one small shower with a staffer that stands there and watches them - yeah, creepy! A "time-out" room that was literally a small closet and had scratches on the door and dents in the walls, like kids were locked in and desperate to get out! I could go on and on, but suffice it to say, if you really want to help your child, do NOT send them to Rimrock Trails in Prineville, Oregon!
