ABOUT ROCHESTER REGIONAL HEALTH – UNITY CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY

Part of Rochester Regional Health, a network of hospitals serving Rochester and the Finger Lakes region of Western N.Y., Unity Park Ridge Campus’ chemical dependency unit (called Unity Chemical Dependency) provides short-term inpatient and outpatient programs for adults and adolescents struggling with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. It is one of 56 short-term residential facilities in the state of New York. Additionally, the facility offers residential programs for adolescent males up to age 21 and a gender-specific program for women.

If necessary, the Unity Park Ridge Campus facilitates ambulatory detoxification, which utilizes Suboxone to assist with opioid withdrawal and Phenobarbital (an epilepsy medication) to alleviate the symptoms associated with alcohol withdrawal.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

According to the facility's website, upon admission, clients participate in a substance abuse assessment, which is used to create an individualized treatment plan and determine an appropriate level of care.

If stabilization is required, patients may be referred to the 14-day inpatient program. During inpatient treatment, patients participate in a structured schedule of individual therapy, group counseling, recreational therapy. They also attend self-help groups, including 12-step meetings.

Designed for patients who may benefit from a longer program, gender-specific residential care also includes therapeutic counseling, recreational activities, and relapse prevention education. The Adolescent Community Residence for male adolescents incorporates on-site schooling, family education, and support for loved ones.

The Barbara Wolk Schwarz Women’s Community Residence focuses on repairing interpersonal relationships, determining career goals, and addressing issues of self-esteem.

Unity Chemical Dependency also provides a number of specialized outpatient programs, including programs for men, women, adolescents, young adults, older adults, and dually diagnosed individuals. All of these sessions meet multiple times per week to help clients understand the nature of addiction and their role in recovery.

My loved one only stayed two days. Easily accessoble.

Brenda

I have been an RN for many years. I was interested in caring for people dependent on drugs/alcohol. That is why I took the classes to help work with them. I recently obtained a certificate to update the training. I would love to be working in one again.

Well trained experienced staff. Modern facility. Some counselors use program top push personal ideological and religious agendas. I find that practice predatory, immoral and counter productive. Program works. For our family, the matrix of on-going support, and on-going programs (AA) for the person with this problem was more important than the program itself, It is still a worthwhile program.
