Treatment Center Setting
Sage Recovery Villa Philosophy
Sage was developed with the idea that treatment is more than learning to change unwanted or unhealthy behaviors. Long-term change comes from treating the mind, body, and spirit collectively. Sage Recovery Villa is designed to expand upon our original vision of our outpatient treatment center, Sage Recovery & Wellness Center. With Sage Recovery Villa, clients are offered an exceptional residential experience, providing a deeper level of exploration and integration, while housed in a relaxing and serene residential setting.
Long before substance use was a problem, it was the solution. At Sage Recovery Villa, we’re dedicated to helping clients figure out what their substance use may have been the solution to, and empowering them to heal and rebuild by exploring the underlying issues.
We help guide our clients on the path of recovery with warmth and compassion. We don’t look at the person as their addiction, but the addiction as a symptom of something larger.
By digging deeper, we can get to the crux of the problem, instead of putting a Band-Aid over problematic symptoms.
Areas of Specialization
Dual Diagnosis/Co-Occurring Disorders Treatment
These two terms describe a person who is not only addicted to drugs or alcohol, but also has a mental or emotional illness, such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, etc. Facilities that treat patients with dual-diagnosis or co-occurring disorders provide psychiatric treatment in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation services.
Some facilities have an addiction treatment protocol that all patients or clients are expected to follow, while others customize or individualize treatment based on a person’s unique needs and circumstances. Factors that may affect treatment decisions include age, lifestyle, medical conditions, type of drug, religious beliefs, etc.
Facilities that offer “holistic therapy” see and treat patients in the context of their entire lives and health status. They treat the “whole person,” not just the addiction.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
The focus of cognitive behavioral therapy (also called CBT) is helping people to understand the thoughts and emotions that underlie their addiction with the goal of learning new, healthier and more productive ways to understand and express themselves.
Residential treatment programs provide housing (food and meals) in addition to treatment for substance abuse. Some facilities offer only short-term residential treatment, some offer only long-term treatment and others offer both, ranging from a few days to many months, based on patient needs.
Patients who undergo intensive outpatient treatment continue to live at home and sometimes go to school or work while participating in a highly structured treatment protocol that is focused on ending substance abuse. Programs vary in terms of how much treatment patients receive, how often and for how long. Some facilities design individualized intensive outpatient treatment programs.

ABOUT SAGE RECOVERY VILLA
Sage Recovery Villa is a 35-day, 15-bed luxury residential treatment center for adults struggling with substance use (SUD) and co-occurring mental health disorders in Manor, Texas, just east of Austin. One of just 119 (27.6 percent of) Joint Commission accredited facilities in the state, Sage Recovery Villa offers a 24-hour, trauma-focused environment from which it provides highly individualized holistic, spa-like services for up to 15 clients at a time.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Treatment at Sage Recovery Villa is rooted in a holistic approach: the facility sess each client as a unique individual and works by collectively treating mind, body, and spirit. The luxury center works by exposing clients to a variety of treatment options - from evidence-based individual counseling and several types of group therapy to holistic activities and 12-step meetings - encouraging them to find what works best for them in developing healthy self-care behaviors and goals. The center is one of just 94 (21.8 percent of) facilities in the state of Texas that offers more than 30 days of residential care.
A typical day here starts with a brief mindfulness session, followed by a healthy breakfast and one of the following: acupuncture detoxification, yoga, or meditation. The morning continues with a daily process group and lunch, while afternoons see two hours of psychoeducational groups and one hour of individual therapy. Days end with a “family-style dinner” and a support meeting held either on-site or in the local area. Amongst others, treatment modalities used here include cognitive behavioral (CBT) and dialectical behavior (DBT) therapies, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), motivational interviewing (MI), and Seeking Safety sessions.
Sage Recovery Villa provides families with monthly opportunities to visit and to attend the Family Retreat Weekend. A business executive track caters to career-minded individuals seeking a flexible treatment environment and customized scheduling. Following successful program completion, residents have option to continue attending individual, group, and family counseling as well as an active alumni program. The center is also one of just 220 (51.0 percent) in the state that works clinically with couples. Where appropriate, clients may be recommended for intensive outpatient (IOP) care with traditional and DBT tracks to establish themselves further in early recovery.
All therapists at Sage Recovery Villa are master’s level clinicians, who, per the center’s website, specialize in both substance use and mental health. The treatment team includes licensed clinical social workers (LCSW), a licensed professional counselor (LPC), a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP), and a board-certified physician.
