Located in Jeffersonville, Ind., Serenity House and Recovery Complex is a private nonprofit facility, which make up about 59 percent of all treatment facilities in Indiana; it is one of the 26 (8.5 percent) of Indiana facilities that offers long-term, residential treatment services. The transitional, residential treatment facility is for men who are struggling with alcohol abuse.


According to Serenity House's website, the 48-bed treatment facility is based on the principles of alcoholic anonymous. The Serenity House is a transitional residence, and men a referred to treatment from sources such as other treatment centers, courts, jails, hospitals, Alcoholics Anonymous, and various agencies.

Once residents enter treatment, they are required to find employment and must agree to stay at least 90-days. Clients are also required to attend four or more 12-step meetings per week, and curfews are enforced daily. It is one of the 239 (78.4 percent) of Indiana facilities that provides 12-step facilitation.

The Support Center hosts more than 40 12-step meetings per week, and meetings are offered to both men and women.


Serenity House's website notes the staff includes a full-time executive director, night manager, and cook/manager.


Serenity House's website indicates the 48-bed facility consists of a lounge, computer room, recreational room, dining room, commercial kitchen, and a laundry facility.

However, the 11 people to leave Google Reviews for Serenity House at the time of this writing gave an average of 4.8 out of five stars, and positive feedback. To date, the five people to leave reviews on its Facebook page, which it has the ability to manage, gave an average of 4.2 out of five stars. All but one person left positive commentary. "I know many men personally who have successfully found recovery at the Serenity House and begun a new way of life," Ed wrote in a representative review. [2]
