Areas of Specialization

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
The focus of cognitive behavioral therapy (also called CBT) is helping people to understand the thoughts and emotions that underlie their addiction with the goal of learning new, healthier and more productive ways to understand and express themselves.

  • Client & Family Support Groups
Group therapy is a vital component of addiction recovery treatment, considered as important and effective (sometimes even more so) than individual therapy. Benefits include reducing isolation and loneliness and providing the opportunity to learn from others in recovery. In the addiction setting, group therapy is run by trained professionals who guide participants toward a shared goal of recovery.

ABOUT SEVEN HILLS HOSPITAL

Seven Hills Hospital is a behavioral health hospital offering psychiatric and substance abuse treatment for adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. The facility is located 20 miles south of downtown Las Vegas. Addiction treatment includes medical detox, residential, and outpatient care. Detox services are available on site, making it one of the 11 hospitals (13.8 percent of facilities) in the state of Nevada to offer detoxification services.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Detoxification may be the first phase of care depending on the client's individualized needs. Medical professionals monitor this process 24 hours a day, seven days each week. This program is available for adolescents, adults, and seniors.

Clients at the facility follow an individualized program put together under the supervision of a psychiatrist. The facility uses a variety of therapies built around the 12-Steps. Treatment options include psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), medication management, exercise, nutrition, group and family therapy. Family therapy is offered in both individual and group settings.

Outpatient options consist of partial hospitalization programs (PHPs) and intensive outpatient programs (IOPs) for mental health disorders and substance abuse. Both programs are held on weekday mornings with an average treatment length of two weeks.

The facility offers a dedicated treatment track for adolescents ages 11 to 17 that includes treatment for phobias, cutting, and eating disorders. Similarly, treatment for seniors offers programs for obsessive compulsive disorder, schizophrenia, and more.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

The team is led by a staff of psychiatrists, and also includes physicians, nurse practitioners, psychologists, licensed addiction counselors, and recreational therapists. Four alumni polled by Rehabs.com gave the facility staff’s experience and level of training an average 4.75 out of five stars.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

The facility offers 134 beds in rooms for two, plus food prepared by an on-site chef. Free daily transportation plus lunch and snacks are available for outpatient clients. Six alumni and their loved ones polled by Rehabs.com gave cleanliness an average rating of 4.6 stars.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

At the time of this writing, there have been six alumni polled by Rehabs.com. On average, the alumni gave the facility high ratings for most metrics. Five out of five stars were given for the fairness of the facility’s cell phone and visitation policy, for the ability of family and loved ones to participate in treatment through facility programming, for the cleanliness of the facility, and for the affordability and/or payment plans, scholarships, or financial assistance that were made available. These alumni gave the counseling options offered by the facility 4.7 stars and the experience and level of training of the staff 4.75 stars.

When asked about the facility’s strengths, several alumni wrote about the quality of care and support they received from the treatment staff as well as the tools they were given for support after treatment. An anonymous alum commented, "Postiive atmosphere" and another alum, Jozette, wrote, "The group sessipns were very helpful and gave me the tools to walk out the door in pretty good shape." Two alumni gave the admissions and discharge procedure five out of five stars. One wrote, "Really care and are thee every step of the way and when you are getting discharged theyvset you up with a program for after wards. They help you with everything they are there and really listen." The other echoed, "They are really there every step of the way. This is the on;y place i would refer anyone they truly care and help everystep of the way even when you go home."

All of the six alumni polled agreed that they would recommend this facility to a friend or loved one who was considering rehab. However, additional written feedback from two alumni reveals some dissatisfaction with the care received. K.M.B. and Steve both left complaints about the counselors. Additionally, K.M.B. suggested that the facility's website is not an accurate portrayal of the actual facility. Yet, when surveyed on the facility's weaknesses, many alumni respondents wrote, "nothing."

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

At the time of this writing there have been two friends/family members polled by Rehabs.com. One respondent, P.F., was a best friend of a client and gave the facility four out of five stars for treatment effectiveness, accommodations, and meals and nutrition. The second anonymous female loved one rated those same categories as three stars.

Both loved ones agreed that the facility was clean and well maintained. P.F. also agreed that the facility’s cell phone and visitation policy was fair, and that family and friends were able to participate in treatment through facility programming. In contrast, the second anonymous loved one indicated that family and loved ones were not able to participate in treatment through facility programming and she did not think that the treatment and services offered at the facility were worth the cost.

The second respondent indicated she would not recommend the facility to another friend or loved one who was considering rehab because she felt the treatment was not intense enough. She also wrote, “This facility needs to be more involved with the clients an offer individual counseling rather than only group.”

P.F., however, responded affirmatively when polled about whether or not he would recommend this facility. In contrast to the alumni polled, though, P.F. was concerned with the facility's discharge procedures. He wrote that his friend was allowed to leave treatment after detoxing and then later relapsed: “My best friend is the one who went here. He spoke highly of the program structure and staff. He said they supported him in leaving right after detox, which I was not excited about. I think he really could have benefitted if he stayed for treatment. He relapsed shortly after leaving because he didnt have the tools he needed to stay sober.”

FINANCING

According to its website, Seven Hills accepts Medicaid, Medicare, Tricare, and private insurances including Aetna, Anthem, United, and Blue Cross Blue Shield. Costs and fees are not listed on the facility’s website.

I have a daughter that’s a adolescent at seven hills, and I’ve called 16 times and did not get through to my daughter to talk to her about her daily progress. I don’t know NOT no who to call.I fill as parent lost for words when they are charging my insurance thousand of dollars for what? Somebody needs to be compliant in all policies, and procedures of this treatment facility.I know I’m not the only parent dealing with this situation. Please be advised I’m in the same line of work.

This isnt a hospital, its a joke. As a patient with bi-polar disorder, i was admitted and held for 7 days, i had to request to see my doctor, who then finally came to see me and asked “how are you doing?” And left. I watched patients be mistreatedand humilated and now i cannot find one person intelligent enough to fill out forms so i can return to work. Dispite calling, emailing, and driving down to speak with my doctor. 9000.00 of insurance was collected quickly however! $9000.00 for how are you doing? If your homeless, and uninsured, go eat and sleep and escape the heat. If your ill, go find a hospital.

I have a family member there. I've been able to visit on tues or thurs for one hour. I'm not sure why they serve food that will promote bipolar behavior in patients. Sugar, caffine, gluten, processed food. All that is crap food that they are feeding those people. I understand the restricted items allowed in. Fine. As ludicrous as it may seem, this place is a psychiatric hospital, not a hotel. I wouldn't expect it to be that pleasant. From what I hear, the staff in the units are not that bad, some even care a little about their patients. Let's face it, some of the patients there may be more difficult than others. However, the Doctor ... Terrible communication. I asked him to call me back 3 times. Not one word. This guy must truly believe that we are all idiots. The social worker sounds condescending on the phone. I wish she would appreciate the fact that other people attended college as well. I have a strong dislike of psychiatric hospitals. This place was way over the Coo Coo's nest.

This place is a joke, they are not helpful they do not communicate what’s happening or what’s to happen. The doctors only see you once, they don’t help they just try to push meds. And the facility doesn’t allow you to see your loved ones other than scheduled appointed days. All the meanwhile lying to their patients about what happening telling them they can see their loved ones when they can not.

he's the worst psychatrist ever he descharged real fast I was trying to take a shower and the guy he didn't let me

The whole website is nothing compared to what it's actually like there. There is no therapy. No counseling. I saw the doctor one time the whole week. And the food is not edible no joke. I couldn't eat one full meal the week I was there and everyone there couldn't either. All the nurses are mean and nasty. The shower is like a dribble. You have to hit a button 500 times for warm water. I could go on and on but i think you get the point. The place is gross. Do not send your family here. It's like a mini jail.

I just came home today from an 8 day stay for homicidal/suicidal feelings. I was welcomed into the unit from day 1. The staff and other patients were so amazing. They all cared and it showed. I made new friends and adjusted really well, very quickly. While I was there my congestive heart failure flaired up and I got a killer toothache, but they took care of me. The group sessipns were very helpful and gave me the tools to walk out the door in pretty good shape. Now pn to the accomodations and amenities. The beds were comfortable and some rooms, like mine, had actual adjustable hospital beds. You didn't have to bring your own personal items because they provide everything you need. They even provide cigarettes for the smokers. Now to the food! OMG they had the BEST meals ever!!! This morning before I left I had scrambled eggs, sausage, and biscuits and gravy. It was delicious!! I loved chicken fried steak night the best and the chcken cordon bleu for lunch was amazing. You have your choice of drinks. Soda pop, tea, coffee, juices, and everything is plentiful. Plus in the units you got snacks. Fresh fruits, chocolate and nut trail mix, granola bars, rice krispie treats, cheeze-it's. All in all I am glad this was the place I went to. The whole experience was life changing. Thank you

This place is a joke! Poorly run with inept counselors! Good luck getting anyone to answer you if you leave a message. Either clean up this place or close the doors...you aren't very good at what you do. Larry, Curly and Moe would have a better clue how to run this dump!

12 Step model, medical staff, detox medications. I wish they would have encouraged him more to go to their residential treatment program instead of just letting him leave after detox. My best friend is the one who went here. He spoke highly of the program structure and staff. He said they supported him in leaving right after detox, which I was not excited about. I think he really could have benefitted if he stayed for treatment. He relapsed shortly after leaving because he didnt have the tools he needed to stay sober. Hopefully he gets help again soon.

The out-patient 30 days - 6 hours a day is a very effective method for those who genuinely want to keep clean and sober. DETOX is what it is, hard to get through. The medical and psychological Staff are well aware of your needs and every tool necessary to make the transition into and out of DETOX is provided to you for however long it takes. Then, your discharge for in-patient to out-patient facilities is done smoothly. The processes at this facility are of the highest available for the fees charged. I doubt there is anything better for the patient who truly wants to return to a clean and sober life.
