ABOUT SILVER RIDGE

Set on 12 acres of rolling hills in North Carolina's Blue Ridge Mountains, Silver Ridge offers luxury residential treatment for adults struggling with problematic substance use and co-occurring disorders. Programming is geared towards professionals ages 35 and older seeking comprehensive but discreet treatment.

Silver Ridge was opened in early 2017 by Pyramid Healthcare, which operates over 80 facilities across five eastern states. The facility is one of 252 (53.4 percent) private, for-profits in North Carolina.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Silver Ridge defines midlife as a period of transition, loss, and growth, and aims to address these issues head-on, in a collaborative process. The program is holistic and designed to emphasize residents’ strengths, focusing in particular on wellbeing and resilience.

The core components of treatment are individual, group, and family therapy; psychoeducation; and holistic services. Amongst other areas, treatment aims to help clients better understand addiction and develop effective coping strategies using motivational interviewing (MI), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and positive psychology, along with some work on attachment theory.

These clinical approaches are balanced by alternative therapies such as equine therapy, horticultural therapy, acupuncture, mindfulness training, trauma-sensitive yoga, and art, music, and dance therapy. Clients also have access to nutritional counseling.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

According to the center’s website, the staff includes trained admissions personnel, addiction psychiatrist and a primary care physician, licensed professional counselors (LPC) and other master’s-level, licensed healthcare professionals, and a gourmet chef. Silver Ridge also has accreditation with CARF, a designation given to just 43.9 percent of facilities statewide.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

Clients reside in a recently remodeled, 10,000 square-foot home with a wrap-around porch and mountain views. Located on a 12-acre property with rolling hills, the home has eight comfortably furnished bedrooms decorated in the style of an upscale bed and breakfast. Meals and snacks are prepared in a gourmet kitchen. Clients also have access to a library, a game room, and both indoor and outdoor recreational areas.
