SOBA New Jersey offers comprehensive clinical treatment and case management services to individuals suffering from substance abuse and mental health disorders. Our services are specifically designed to treat these disorders and to help our clients build a successful future.
SOBA New Jersey sets itself apart from other substance abuse treatment centers by focusing on our clients’ self– sufficiency, their life in recovery outside of treatment, treating the underlying causes of addiction, and by providing a higher quality of care overall.
Our Goal: To be the benchmark of excellence for treatment programs. We aim to provide the highest quality of substance abuse and mental health treatment services to those in need. We deliver lasting positive outcomes by offering a 360-degree continuum of care and fully supporting each of our clients in managing their life outside of treatment.
Drug Detox, Alcohol Detox
Our state-of-the-art drug detox center is located in New Brunswick, NJ. Here we provide medically monitored detox and withdrawal management for drugs and alcohol. A stay in our detox typically lasts 5-7 days and helps individuals recover from their habitual drug use in a safe, welcoming, and modern facility.
As addictive substances begin to clear from the body withdrawal symptoms begin to manifest, often in severe ways. Our detox program works to manage the withdrawal process. We monitor and treat our clients so they can go through the detoxification process as comfortably and safely as possible.
Dual Diagnosis Treatment
In co-occurring cases, the mental health disorder tends to be the underlying problem while substance abuse manifests itself as a symptom of that problem. That’s why our team at SOBA New Jersey knows that treatment of both mental health and substance abuse disorders is critical to a client’s successful recovery.
A dual diagnosis requires specific treatment outside the realms of traditional addiction treatment centers. The team at SOBA New Jersey is uniquely qualified to treat co-occurring disorders. We are experts in understanding the specific psychological problems and addictive behaviors our clients exhibit and it is with this understanding that we can properly treat both disorders extensively to facilitate a full, comprehensive recovery.
Assessing Individuals With A Dual Diagnosis
Individuals that enter our treatment program undergo thorough assessments and evaluations. This allows our team to see exactly what their treatment plan will require. It also highlights any co-occurring issues that our treatment plan will need to address. Our team repeats these assessments at specific checkpoints throughout treatment to continually monitor for underlying mental health disorders. Our evaluation process makes sure every client receives the care required.
Emphasis On Enjoying Life In Recovery
Addiction affects every area of an individual’s life, from interpersonal and romantic relationships, to work and education, to identity and recreation. At SOBA New Jersey, our team focuses not only on treating addiction and sustaining recovery, but also on helping clients rediscover themselves by finding out who they are and what they like to do. Clients will find new, healthy ways to fill their time through the many recreational activities our program offers, all in a safe, supportive environment with people who understand what they have been through and where they are trying to go in the future.
Client & Family Support Groups
Group therapy is a vital component of addiction recovery treatment, considered as important and effective (sometimes even more so) than individual therapy. Benefits include reducing isolation and loneliness and providing the opportunity to learn from others in recovery. In the addiction setting, group therapy is run by trained professionals who guide participants toward a shared goal of recovery.
Individual Case Management

ABOUT SOBA COLLEGE RECOVERY
Located next to Rutgers University in downtown New Brunswick, N.J., SOBA College Recovery offers residential and outpatient care for young adults dealing with substance abuse, process addictions, and co-occurring disorders including PTSD, depression, bipolar disorder, and more. Medical detox is not available on site. Aftercare planning services are also available through the treatment programs.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
The treatment process at SOBA College Recovery begins with an assessment to identify any co-occurring disorders. A team of medical and clinical staff members evaluate each client, and collaborate with the client to identify and begin the best method for treatment. Clients can schedule evaluations by calling the facility’s office and working with an admissions coordinator. Clients can also be referred from other facilities.
Treatment consists of two components, residential and clinical treatment. The facility views substance abuse as the result of other behavioral issues rather than the cause. Therefore, treatment options are designed to treat the co-occurring conditions while treating substance abuse issues. 12-steps principles are used in treatments. These treatment methods also focus on long-term recovery and sobriety maintenance rather than providing a cure for each client’s condition. Treatment plans are individualized for each client.
Treatment follows a three-phase process. The initial phase focuses on establishing a recovery-focused lifestyle where clients break their involvement in various trigger activities that influence their substance abuse. The second phase focuses on teaching clients sober living and coping skills, as well as providing educational opportunities for various topics like substance abuse. The final phase focuses on transitioning out of the program and establishing a sober living lifestyle with the assistance on the program.
Clinical therapy, case management, and holistic health form the basis for treatments throughout the different phases. Clients participate in therapy sessions to identify problem behaviors and to understand how they influence each client’s substance abuse. Clients also participate in recreational and community culture based activities. Sports, dancing, social events, and community involvement are used to promote physical and social development in preparation for creating a sober lifestyle.
Family involvement is encouraged throughout the program and support services are available for family members. Family counseling can be made available as needed. Clients meet with aftercare planners to prepare for reintegration into the community once treatment is completed. Clients are encouraged to continue to participate in community-based recovery groups to promote sober living activities.
The treatment team at SIBA College Recovery consists of a board certified addictionologist, psychiatrist, clinical psychologist, licensed clinical social workers, licensed counselors, a nutrition and wellness coach, case managers, and a personal trainer. Various other activity leaders, group coordinators, and recreational therapy staff members are on hand to coordinate recovery activities. The facility is accredited by the Joint Commission and all staff members are credentialed accordingly.
