ABOUT SPARROW HOSPITAL ST. LAWRENCE CAMPUS

Sparrow is a nonprofit health system serving central Michigan, via two hospitals in Lansing as well as numerous other healthcare facilities. The St. Lawrence Campus, located in northwestern Lansing, provides screening and intake services, inpatient programs, and several levels of outpatient treatment for individuals struggling with substance use disorder and/or mental health disorders.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

The St. Lawrence Campus is home to Sparrow's behavioral health Centralized Access Services (CAS), which provides intake and evaluations for those struggling with mental and/or behavioral health disorders, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Sparrow's inpatient program is available for clients aged 18 and over. It's a short-term program, designed only to stabilize clients so that they can proceed to a less-intensive level of treatment as soon as possible. Inpatients participate in therapy and receive ongoing monitoring services. Pharmacological intervention is also available as indicated.

The St. Lawrence Campus also offers a partial hospitalization program (PHP), available at 8.3 percent of Michigan-based facilities, which treats behavioral health clients in general. For clients diagnosed specifically with substance use disorder and/or dual diagnosis, there's an intensive outpatient program (IOP), available at 36.8 percent of Michigan facilities. The IOP is offered in both the daytime and the evening, and can be a short-term or a long-term solution, depending on the client's needs.

Programming focuses on providing peer support, expert guidance, and coping skills, and the program's staff can coordinate with employers and the court, when necessary. Once clients are ready to graduate from the IOP, they can proceed to weekly aftercare meetings, also available in the daytime or the evening.

Sparrow also offers standard outpatient care for a range of disorders. Treatment might include medication management and treatment for complex conditions, such as pain management.

Staff was extremely professional, caring and gave great follow up services. Rooms were rather "clinical" and drab. This facility saved my friend.

Strengths: Strong, and well focused on the goal. Weaknesses: the fact that the facility has something you forgot. in the whole figure there is a new version of multi skills.

They were welcoming to our family. Often waited a long time for therapist visits. We really enjoyed the care our family received and would highly recommend the facility.

Strengths: Affiliated with a hospital that has many outpatient facilities, doctors, and therapists. Weaknesses: Not really an inpatient setting. Requires quite a bit of input from family members. They are decisive and like to take a strong but people-friendly course of action. Not great if you don't have good insurance.
