ABOUT ST. VINCENT INDIANAPOLIS

St. Vincent Hospital of Indianapolis, Indiana, offers a full continuum of treatment services for individuals with diagnosed psychiatric disorders, substance use, and co-occurring disorders. The facility's Stress Center offers inpatient and outpatient treatment, as well as medically-monitored detoxification. It's one of only 23 hospital-based treatment facilities in Indiana (eight percent) to offer medical detox.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Upon admission, clients undergo an initial substance abuse and psychiatric assessment to determine the most appropriate level of care. In addition to inpatient stabilization, the center offers a partial hospitalization program (PHP), which is an outpatient modality available in just 13 percent of Wisconsin treatment facilities.

The center offers separate programs to treat addiction, psychiatric disorders, and dual diagnosis, as well as specialized programs for adolescents, young adults (ages 18 to 25), and seniors. The Stress Center is among the 27.2 percent of treatment facilities in Indiana to offer programs tailored to adolescents, and among the 10.8 percent of facilities to provide programs tailored to seniors. In addition, 26 percent of facilities in Indiana offer special groups for young adults.

All programs include individual counseling, group therapy, and family counseling, as well as medication management if needed. For adolescent programs, family involvement is highly encouraged, and a Therapeutic Day School Program is available for those ages six to 18.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

St. Vincent Hospital’s website indicates that the Stress Center employs an interdisciplinary team of medical doctors, psychiatrists, registered nurses, child and family psychologists, and addiction and mental health counselors.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

Facility Cleanliness and Upkeep: 4.3/5

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

The two former clients surveyed by Rehabs.com to date gave the facility mixed feedback. Both agreed that staff were helpful and friendly, and that the facility was, for the most part, comfortable and accommodating. However, they also both noted that the program needed to improve its exercise and leisure offerings, as well as its food and its counseling. "Good environment but bad food, not many options on counseling or one on one therapy," one alum wrote in a representative review.

On Google, St Vincent's Stress Center earned an average rating of 3.3 out of five stars based on 53 reviews[1]. While a small handful of former clients complained about rude staff and disorganization, the majority of alumni who left comments described the center as helpful and effective. "This place literally saved and changed my life," Sarah wrote in a review representative of positive feedback. "I'm eternally grateful all the doctors and people I met on my road to recovery."

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

To date, the nine loved ones polled by Rehabs.com provided St. Vincent's with mostly positive feedback. They indicated that staff were knowledgeable and well-trained, appreciated the amount of family participation, and that the counseling options were above average.

Staff Experience and Training: 4.3/5
Family Participation: 3.9/5
Counseling Options: 3.3/5

"My family member was well-cared for," wrote an anonymous loved one in a representative review. "She went through detox and has remained sober." Friends and family also that they had the opportunity to participate in their loved ones' treatment. Complaints were minimal and included high cost and a lack of aftercare options.

FINANCING

According to the facility’s website, St. Vincent Hospital accepts a range of private insurances, as well as Medicaid and Medicare, the later of which is taken by 56 percent of treatment facilities in Indiana. Payment plans and a sliding fee scale based on income are also available. The eight individuals polled on the matter by Rehabs.com offered moderately positive opinions concerning the facility's cost.

The motto at St. Vincent Stress Center could easily be “sociopath clowns treating sociopaths.” What they claim to be “treatment” is more like imprisonment, overmedication with the wrong medicines, and inhumane mistreatment. I say this having been on both the patient side of things, as well as having seen their reckless path of patient destruction from behind the scenes. It is ugly, my friends, and I would recommend you look elsewhere if you care about yourself or your loved ones.

it's better than average but I question the effectiveness of 12 step programs so I doubt what is learned at the facility works for most.

It worked to get her clean..when others didn't. Not everyone could afford even with insurance. Getting your life back and your family back..is worth the work to get there.

Staff were nice, friendly, & helpful for the most part. The food was not very good. Little in the way of real treatment and not really effective treatment at that. Too costly. Not really worth the money spent. They also did nothing have very updated surroundings & little to none in the way of exercis, leisure, or treatments options. I did have some one group meeting there where we were lead through some yoga & a guided meditation afterward which was great, but this was only offered by nice while I was there and they did not offer any other type of holistic treatment options other than this one class. They should definitely add more exercise, recreation/leisure activity options, as well as, more holistic treatment options.

accommodating, somewhat friendly staff, good environment but bad food, not many options on counseling or one on one therapy. I didn't drop my habits or shake my depression too much but I was more stable then before I came in.

Finding problems and working out ways to handle problem but No enough "after care/follow up". More after care is needed.

Strengths: Privacy, cost, expediency. Weaknesses: Not plush, bare bones. My family member was well-cared for. She went through detox and has remained sober.

Staff was extremely pleasant, they did what they said they were going to do. Could use more activities. I would recommend St. Vincent's to a friend or family member. They are trustworthy, my husband was comfortable there. Warm and inviting.
