ABOUT TEXAS HEALTH RESOURCES - BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES
The Behavioral Health Services of Texas Health Resources is one of Texas’ 212 private, non-profit treatment organizations. It offers residential, a partial hospitalization program (PHP), and intensive outpatient (IOP) programs for adults and adolescents seeking treatment for addiction and co-occurring disorders. TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
All clients receive a comprehensive assessment upon admission to the THR-BHS unit to determine the appropriate level of care. THR-BHS is one Texas’ 137 programs with specialized services for adolescents. Many clients begin in the detox program, which provides short-term medical support. Once complete, clients can transition to one of the outpatient programs for continued treatment. These programs are separated by age groups.
THR-BHS's treatment process uses evidence-based practices and 12-step recovery principles. The 12-Step program is commonly used for its ongoing treatment opportunities in the community, and can be found in 48% of treatment facilities. The residential program is also one of Texas’ 42.2% and 40.6% of facilities with gender-specific programming for women and men, respectively.
All treatment plans are individualized and include one-on-one counseling, group therapy, addiction education, relapse prevention, and life skills workshops. Clients focus on finding and addressing the underlying factors that may contribute to addictive behavior.
Aside from traditional treatment methods, the facility uses recreational and expressive therapies as well. These include regular physical fitness coaching, yoga, and Tai Chi. Clients can use these methods to promote holistic healing and healthy lifestyle habits.
For adolescents in residential treatment, THR-BHS also offers an on-site school, allowing school-aged youth to continue their education while in treatment. The school is overseen through a partnership with the local school district.
