Located in a quiet area of the Denver suburb of Centennial, The Cornerstone Program offers outpatient treatment for young people aged 13 to 25 who are struggling with substance abuse issues.

According to Cornerstone’s website, there is no waiting list to get onto the program.

Treatment is based on the 12-Steps and a concept called “enthusiastic sobriety,” which entails showing young people that a life without drugs and alcohol can be better than one spent under the influence.

Cornerstone offers a variety of services, beginning with an intensive outpatient program (IOP) that runs for four hours per day, five days per week. The IOP provides individual and group counseling, plus family counseling that includes weekly parent meetings and weekly counseling sessions. On achieving 30 days of sobriety, both clients and their parents receive symbolic items — a sailor’s knot and a wooden heart, respectively — celebrating their success.

Cornerstone offers a 12-step support group, in which clients may participate for 18 to 20 months, though IOP clients are also required to attend other 12-step meetings in the community. As well as 12-step meetings, the group provides social functions and ongoing screening services.

Graduates of the IOP may progress to an eight-week aftercare program.

The staff includes registered psychotherapists and certified addiction counselors. Many of the staff members are also in recovery.

The single loved one polled by to date gave very positive feedback, awarding the facility five out of five stars for its level of staff support, its family programming, and the overall quality of its addiction and mental health programming. “Very down to earth, full of support and an amazing out patient facility. Amazing counselors!” the anonymous reviewer wrote.

At the time of this writing, secondary review sites yielded unanimously positive feedback, with four five-star ratings on Facebook (where the center can manage its own page) and an average of 4.3 out of five stars across six reviews on Google.[1][2] “This place saved my son, my sanity AND my family! Grateful to this amazing community of kids and parents!” Kathleen wrote in a representative review on Facebook.

The facility’s website notes that the IOP is a fee-based service, but does not specify the cost of treatment. There is currently no further information provided on the facility's website regarding its costs. The single individual polled by to date gave the center three out of five stars for its pricing.
