ABOUT THE CROSSROADS PROGRAM
Serving teens and young adults between the ages of 13 and 25, The Crossroads Program treats substance abuse in individuals and their families. Originally opened as a nonprofit in 1982, The Crossroads Program is based in St. Louis, Mo. with two other locations in Columbia and Kansas City. Intensive outpatient (IOP) treatment is the facility’s main program with additional a la carte services for those in need of less intensive care. Aftercare services are available, but detox is not.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
The Crossroads Program offers free consultations and assessments to help individuals determine what course of treatment is best. Plans are individualized and include individual, group, and family counseling. Treatment is grounded in the 12-Steps principles with additional support groups specifically for teens, young adults, and parents with a loved one in recovery. The program also facilitates crisis intervention, relapse prevention, coping skills classes, and aftercare.
The facility provides counseling and educational services for a wide range of topics related to substance abuse and recovery. These topics include age-specific abuse, parenting, and special topics by speakers.
The IOP program typically lasts between six and fourteen weeks, after which the client undergoes eight weeks of aftercare at no additional cost. Family involvement and regular social events help teach youth how to build positive relationships and have fun without using mind-altering chemicals.
Either as step-down treatment or just a less intensive form of rehab, individual counseling is also available. The program also hosts in-school support groups and interventions, as well as motivational speakers.
Treatment at the Crossroads program is administered by a team of professional substance abuse counselors, some of which are in recovery themselves. Staff members have extensive experience with recovery programs as well as working with different age groups. All counselors have extensive training and certification in their respective areas.
