ABOUT THE NEIL DOBBINS CENTER

The Neil Dobbins Center (NDC) is a short-term crisis stabilization and detoxification center in Asheville, N.C. dedicated to helping men and women struggling with substance use (SUD) and co-occurring mental health disorders.

One of just 31 (6.6 percent) hospital-based detoxification programs in the state, NDC serves individuals experiencing crises 24 hours per day through intervention and assessment services.

The short-term program consists mostly of individual therapy and clinician-led groups. Medications are available to benefit a particular client’s recovery. While some complete treatment here, others may be referred for further treatment and/or a higher level of inpatient care.

Staff provide assessments and work with clients in creating an ongoing recovery plan and building up their support network. Referrals to additional support services are provided where needed.

It helped my loved one while they attended, but they didn't complete the program. Not enough staff or funding. The cost of really good programs is too high for the average person. This program was for those that can't afford it.
