The Right Step North Dallas Philosophy
The Right Step has been treating patients with chemical dependency issues for more than 20 years. The Dallas North facility offers outpatient alcohol and drug addiction treatment for men and women over 18. Clients spend 10 hours a week in individual and group sessions learning how to reframe addictive thought patterns, utilize healthy coping skills, and rely on 12-step principles to live a productive and fulfilling life in sobriety. The rehab is designed for individuals who are transitioning out of residential care or attending work or in school and cannot commit to inpatient residential care, but still need a treatment program to maintain a sober lifestyle.
Areas of Specialization
Family Therapy Group
In Family Therapy Group, family members of those affected by addiction process the emotions, experiences, and thought processes that often arise when watching a loved one battle substance abuse. Family group therapy is available independent of Intensive Outpatient services.
Clients are invited to take advantage of up to two years of no-cost aftercare support upon the successful completion of treatment. Program offerings include services such as counselor referrals and weekly group therapy sessions. Clients are encouraged to collaborate with their peers in order to strengthen support networks and reinforce positive recovery strategies.
Meet the Staff
I am a licensed professional counselor and a licensed chemical dependency counselor who began working in the addiction treatment field in the 1980s. Prior to becoming affiliated with Right Step, I managed three different residential programs and two outpatient programs. My skill sets include interventions, therapy, crisis intervention, case management, and developing and overseeing high-quality addiction treatment programs.
Our master's level therapists provide counseling, process groups, relapse prevention planning and free aftercare for two years for adults and adolescents.
Our programs have a reputation for helping people who have lost hope that they'll be able to turn their lives around. I approach each client as an individual rather than using a cookie-cutter approach and emphasize practical skills that will help you sustain your recovery long-term. Over 80% of clients who commit to follow the recovery process with us go on to stay sober years later.

ABOUT THE RIGHT STEP NORTH DALLAS
A program of The Right Step, one of the largest, private chemical dependency treatment providers in the Southwest, Right Step North Dallas offers intensive outpatient (IOP) and aftercare programming for adults. Serving the Dallas and Richardson areas, the facility is located near Harry Moss Park, 10 miles north of downtown Dallas.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Outpatient treatment at the Right Step is based on the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous and Positive Recovery®, a program developed by the center’s chief medical officer that uses meditation and other exercises to help clients discover meaning and purpose in their lives without the use of drugs and alcohol. The program length varies according to each client's needs, with groups meeting approximately three hours at a time, three times per week, either morning or evening.
Those enrolled in the intensive outpatient program (IOP) learn to develop a sober routine, change their thoughts and behaviors, and build a support network. IOP sessions include 12-step meetings, private and group counseling, gender-specific groups, addiction education, family groups, relapse prevention, and spirituality. Friday evenings are set aside for Family Friday.
Upon completion of the IOP, clients are eligible to attend a free, two-year aftercare program that consists of weekly support groups. The Right Step North Dallas also runs Javelin™, a 12-month continuing care service that links each person with a coach for regular check-ins via phone, text, and email, helping them keep up the progress made throughout treatment.
The Right Step is led by a medical director who is board-certified in both family medicine and addiction medicine. The organization also employs master’s level counselors, though details specific to this facility are not provided.
