ABOUT THE SALVATION ARMY ADULT REHABILITATION CENTER
Part of the Christian nonprofit organization, The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) in Honolulu, Hawaii, is a men’s-only, long-term residential addiction treatment program. At ARC, men above the age of 18 work with staff to address a range of issues, including substance misuse as well as social, medical, spiritual, and employment concerns.
While medical detox is not provided at the ARC, a four-to-seven-day non-medical detoxification program is available. In addition to the long-term residential program, the facility also offers outpatient treatment options.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
The intake process often follows referrals by clergy, physicians, family members, the court system, and employers. Residents are admitted, with appropriate staff approval, voluntarily.
Participants in the long-term residential program commit to a minimum six-month rehab stay. As part of treatment, the program incorporates work therapy to develop life skills as well as group and individual counseling.
Outpatient and day treatment programs are also available. According to ARC's website, day treatment sessions are six hours daily, intensive outpatient program (IOP) sessions are three-hours long and offered at least three times weekly. Regular outpatient sessions are offered up to eight hours weekly. A minimum of 12 weeks of continuing care is provided after completion of primary treatment.
According to the facility's website, ARC staff adhere to the highest ethical standards of business and professional conduct, including NAADAC Ethical Standards of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors. While no additional information is currently provided regarding treatment staff, the four individuals polled by Rehabs.com regarding the matter generally approved of the staff.

All four gave high ratings to treatment effectiveness and meals and nutrition, though reviews of the accommodations and amenities were mixed. The two alumni who were polled on specific metrics gave high marks to most categories evaluated, including four- and five-star ratings for the amount of family participation and the respect shown to clients.
However, ratings of metrics such as holistic options and treatment for co-occurring disorders were either neutral or negative. "No holistic programs. I just thank God this place was there for me," D.I. wrote in a representative review.

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY
