Touchstone Recovery Center in Clovis, Calif., offers outpatient treatment, medical detoxification, and aftercare services to individuals struggling with substance misuse. Touchstone is one of 588 (39.1 percent) facilities in California that provides intensive outpatient (IOP) program and one of 209 (13.9 percent) that offers detox in an outpatient setting. The center also provides support for family members.


Clients in all levels of treatment at Touchstone Recovery Center receive a comprehensive medical and psychosocial evaluation upon admission. Next, clients will collaborate with clinicians to develop an individualized treatment plan that will incorporate 12-step programming. Those that require medical detox receive Suboxone, a medication used by 29 percent of rehabs in California.

Clients will participate in intensive outpatient programming for eight weeks with four, three-hour sessions per week. Treatment includes evidence-based modalities like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and holistic therapies like relaxation and meditative techniques and yoga classes. When needed, the center uses neurofeedback treatment to help identify underlying issues.

Sessions are offered days and evenings. Family members are also invited to join a group session twice weekly. Clients have access to aftercare support groups for one year after successfully completing treatment.


The team at Touchstone Recovery Center is led by a medical director who is a certified addiction specialist, and includes a clinical director and an office director. Touchstone is certified by the California Department of Alcohol & Drug Programs. According to a 2018 SAMHSA survey, 74.6 percent of rehabs in California are certified by a state substance abuse agency.

Two alumni polled by gave four out of five stars for the level of training and experience of staff, while another alum polled on the level of staff support gave the category a perfect five-star rating.


Of the two alumni surveyed by to date, one gave a positive review and the other gave a mixed review. The positive reviewer, E.P., gave four and five stars out of five to nearly every category evaluated, including family participation, holistic offerings, counseling options, and the affordability of the program. When asked to list strengths E.P. wrote, "Support. Conflict resolution. Lots of help."

The other reviewer gave more mixed ratings, with ratings varying from one star to family participation to four stars for the counseling options, staff experience and training, and whether or not they would recommend the facility to others. "Decent facility," they wrote anonymously.

Of the three alumni that reviewed the facility on Google, two gave five-star reviews and one gave a three-star review.[1] In a representative comment, alum Joshua wrote, "Great staff that works with you to get the help you need."

Touchstone Recovery Center’s website indicates that most major PPO insurance plans are accepted. Aftercare costs are included in initial treatment prices.
