3 to 1 Client to Counselor Ratio

At Tranquil Shores, we have a 3-to-1 client to counselor ratio so you get the personal attention you deserve. This includes seeing your primary counselor 3 times a week for hour long individual sessions the 1st and 2nd week of treatment, and 2 times a week for hour long sessions for your remaining time with us. We give you more sessions initially to help build your rapport with your counselor more rapidly. Our counseling staff are all full time employees which are master's educated and licensed in addiction as well as mental health.

Alternative to 12 Step Based Treatment

As an alternative to traditional 12 step treatment, we offer a treatment approach that helps answer each client's questions as to why thing are happening the way they are in their life. We do this through evidence-based practices integrated for an individualized treatment plan. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, Gastalt and experiential treatment are some examples of the different modalities that will be utilized.

Therapeutic Beachside Housing

Tranquil Shores offers a real world treatment experience within a therapeutic environment. The clients reside in beachside condominiums which offer a relaxing, safe environment to heal. The residence is staffed 24 hours a day with nurses, certified behavioral health technicians and behavioral health technicians to make sure all of our clients needs are met. The beach environment is utilized for sunset beach walks, fishing and other activities.

Evidence Based Group Therapy

Group therapy is a vital component of addiction recovery treatment, considered as important and effective (sometimes even more so) than individual therapy. Benefits include reducing isolation and loneliness and providing the opportunity to learn from others in recovery. In the addiction setting, group therapy is run by trained professionals who guide participants toward a shared goal of recovery. Our clients will be attending a total of 25 hours of group therapy per week. These groups will consist of a wide variety of evidence based treatment modalities such as: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Experiential. These groups consist of weekly themed topics ensuring ample opportunity for healing and recovery. Our group themes are important topics we feel need to be worked on in our treatment setting. Some examples consist of: grief and loss, effective communication, letting go of anger, and control and surrender. On top of all of this, you will see our two physicians both of whom are medical doctors. Our Medical Director handles your physical health needs while our Psychiatrist works with you on your mental health.

Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)

Accelerated resolution therapy (ART) is a type of trauma therapy that combines principles from several traditional forms of psychotherapy to reduce the effect of trauma. Using techniques such as rapid eye movement (similar to how our eyes move during the REM sleep process) and image rescripting, this approach works to treat traumatic memories, This is done by changing how the brain store them to improve the clients mental health.

Family Involvement

A family atmosphere where loved ones are welcome to join the healing process is what our Family Dynamics Group offers every Friday afternoon from 1-3 PM. These groups provide family members an education into understanding the recovery process and how to be a healthy support network for their loved ones. We also offer family sessions, which will provide an environment to work on more of the private family related issues. Client and family education and collaboration are crucial treatment components of the recovery process. Sundays are the days when family will be able to come and see their loved ones for vistitation.

Holistic Therapy

Tranquil Shores treats clients in the context of their entire lives and health status. We treat the “whole person,” not just the addiction. We address your physical, mental emotional, behavioral, social and spiritual needs. With this approach, we are able to work through every aspect of a client's live to find what the driving force of each client's struggles are.

Extended Care with a Step Down Approach

We offer a minimum of 30 days of inpatient treatment to start. Tranquil Shores is set up for extended care of up to a total of 90 days of inpatient treatment. We also offer intensive outpatient and outpatient services as a step down to those that complete our program. This step down approach helps with the transition back home. We also have our own transitional living for our clients that complete the 90 days of treatment with us.

Aftercare Plans and Alumni Involvement

When clients are completing treatment at Tranquil Shores, they are presented with a comprehensive discharge plan to help them transition to the next step in their recovery. This is done with their clinical case manager who they will be working with throughout their time with us. Along with the discharge plan, they will become part of our alumni family. This enables them to attend specific alumni groups during the week at Tranquil Shores and other alumni workshops. We want our alumni to stay connected as long as possible and to have our continued support throughout their recovery.
