Veterans Association (VA) Salt Lake City Health Care System, located in Salt Lake City, Utah, offers both residential and outpatient substance use disorder treatment for adult service members and veterans. It's one of just two Utah treatment facilities operated by the federal government, and one of 57 treatment facilities in the state (23 percent) to provide programming specifically tailored to veterans. Medically managed detox services are available on-site.

In order to be admitted for treatment, Veterans will first receive a comprehensive mental health and substance use evaluation. Treatment options range from short-term outpatient counseling and an intensive outpatient program (IOP) to 24-hour residential care for those in need of a more structured treatment approach.

The facility’s programs utilize evidence-based practices, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), and motivational enhancement therapy (MET). Other modalities include self-help groups, marriage and family counseling, and continued care/relapse prevention following treatment.

Clients may also be prescribed medication to help ease cravings or treat co-occurring disorders. The VA's website also notes that it provides medication-assisted therapy (MAT), which may include the use of methadone or buprenorphine/naltrexone for opioid dependency.

Has great counselors. Not long enough. It is ran by the Veterans Hospital and you have to be a Veteran to attend. The counselors are well trained in their field.
