Ventura Recovery Center Philosophy

Our passion at VRC is to give active adults the tools to regain life from the grips of addiction. Changing our client’s views about substance abuse requires a different approach to achieve long-term recovery. Through comprehensive 30, 60 and 90 day addiction treatment programs uniquely tailored to each client’s needs, the cycle of addiction can be broken. We are ending addiction one person at a time, one day at a time.

Areas of Specialization

  • Individualized Treatment
Some facilities have an addiction treatment protocol that all patients or clients are expected to follow, while others customize or individualize treatment based on a person’s unique needs and circumstances. Factors that may affect treatment decisions include age, lifestyle, medical conditions, type of drug, religious beliefs, etc.

  • Medical Detoxification
Drugs and alcohol have widespread effects throughout your body, including but not limited to the addiction and/or physical/psychological dependence that develops with substance abuse over time. Many organ systems are affected by addiction and will react to withdrawal. The term “medical detoxification” means that there is a trained and licensed medical professional onsite to monitor your vital signs and protect your physical and emotional health as your body goes through withdrawal.

I am so grateful for all the staff and my therapist.

VRC is the place to go if you are serious about recovery. This isn't some fluffy getaway for massages and coddling and avoiding the work and seriousness of the disease of alcoholism. It is structured to get the client active in their own recovery, and give the client a clear understanding of alcoholism and drug addiction. The center is run and owned by people who have recovered themselves; they have direct experience and understanding of what it takes to get sober - and stay sober. They know what they are talking about because they've been through it themselves. This is what separates VRC from the country club "rehabs". Alcoholism is a deadly, progressive disease. VRC understands this, and is the best choice for anyone who is serious about recovery, serious about saving their own life, and serious about freedom from drugs and alcohol. ~ KB

Very caring and involved with patient and family. Their actions speak volumes about their committment to serving both the needs of the patient and the needs of the family. I have no area of complaint with Ventura. Outstanding facility. Ventura and its attentive staff have gone above and beyond to create a caring and successful environment for addiction recovery. They work one on one with patients and their families to establish a wholistic approach for recovery. They are located in a very safe and nurturing area of California, with opportunities for the clients to have sober and positive involvement with the surrounding community. Very thankful for their commitment to helping their clients find successful and sober living.

Strengths: Holds client accountable for their actions  One on one therapy along with groups and studies  Family has the ability to reach case mgs and therapist easily  I can't say enough good. Weaknesses: Haven't seen any so far. After three failed 30 day programs for opiates and alcohol we found VRC. They were the first to effectively treat and diagnose our son. They know what they are dealing with. Each clients program is tailored for them. Not a canned 30 shot in the arm, which doesn't work. These professional have one of the best models for treatment we have seen.

Strengths:12 step Majority of staff are addicts and/or alcoholics   Close knit community   Care about each person as an individual and willing to go to any length to help each client succeed. Weaknesses: Large facility. I would not be where I am today without Ventura Recovery Center. I have 20 months clean and sober from a life that was absolutely killing me....Having  the safe environment, loving staff, and sober peers that Ventura Recovery Center provided was exactly what I needed. Today I have my family back in my life, a job, and most of all a sense of worth. I no longer think about drinking or using and is a true miracle.

Strengths: Food, cleanliness, consistency of rules, MOST councilors nice/helpful.  A welcome feeling. Weaknesses: Not enough physical activity choices. Not all counselors were approachable... Needs more than one t.v. and more time to watch and relax. I loved meeting my friends there.  I had an overall enjoyable experience.  They really helped me and gave people a chance. They worked hard with my insurance company. The nurses and 99% of the staff were extremely helpful and caring. The housing was very very nice. The cooks catered to our preference and cared about our opinions and requests.

Strengths: Mental Health issues and life coaching. Also transitioning to sober life! How to deal with relapse and helping family cope! Weaknesses: I can't think of any, they have been a life saver to our family! VRC has on site trained counselors & doctors to deal with the complicated disease that is addiction. My Son was taken in and cared for in a safe and loving environment. Transitioning, when he was ready, to sober living with confidence and staff support. Keeping him on tract to succeed with life skills counseling for employment, and going back to school!

Strengths: Great for young people. Staff who care. Does not over cater to entitled clients. Weaknesses: some clients who do not actively seek employment in later phases of treatment, but there are different living situations to accommodate each individual. excellent and nice rehab for people who are really ready to make a change.  Not a place to get over-accommodated, and consequently not recover.  Staff care and are more than willing to match clients willingness to work on themselves and grow in their recovery.

Strengths: Compassionate people; great program for my son, where other treatment facilities didn't work;  individualized medical detox; a full service inpatient drug rehab offering all levels of care; individualized treatment plan for my son and an understanding medical staff, including therapists and case workers. Weaknesses: Can't think of any. My son had been in 7 different rehabs over the course of 8 years.  So far he is 10 months clean. My son told me that he does not have the desire to use heroin anymore, and I thank the caring staff and director for this. Without VRC, I don't know where my son would be in this world.

Strengths: My son has been in 3 other facilities this is an amazing place.  Has given me my child back! Weaknesses: Can not think of any. If you have tried getting help for a loved one and you have no where to turn this is the facility.  They never give up on my the patient allow them to have their struggles so they can achieve the success they all deserve.  Allowing them to take control of their lives by actually re-parenting them.

Strengths: Counseling and treatment for addiction and mental health issues, detox, transition to sober living. Also job & education counseling! Weaknesses: none that I can think of. VRC has helped our family deal with the disease of addiction. By offering a safe place for our loved one to become clean from drugs. Then offering counseling so our family can begin to heal. The environment in which they can get well is supportive and structured to promote confidence in a sober life style. Work and education is addressed so our loved one is feeling excited about being sober!

Strengths: 12 Step Program. The facilities community and fellowship within. Passionate about their cause and purpose. Teaches well how to stay sober. The staff.  Weaknesses: The meals could improve. I entered this program in...the summer of...2014 and I've been sober ever since. The way they introduce you to sobriety is unique and effective. I know countless others whom have successfully got sober and more importantly stayed sober through this program. It is the only program I'd ever recommend to anyone who is serious about getting sober and saving their life.

Strengths: Updated often by professional staff and counselors. The workers take my family member to different outings, meetings, and active activities. VRC is everything they advertise plus more. It's in their hearts what they do for others. I do not notice any weaknesses. Can't even think of one. My family member is a difficult case. I am amazed at the change in her attitude and the support from VRC. I honestly can say they have helped her to live again. I will cherish the memories for a lifetime.

The staff at this facility is amazing, the recovery is strong, and there is lots to do both in the area, and at the facility. This facility is geared toward young adults. They really focus of clients that are in their 20's and early 30's. Almost 2 years ago I was totally at a loss for what my next move would be in life. I had become a stranger to myself and to everyone that knew me. One of my last remaining friends helped me to get into Ventura Recovery Center, and I have never looked back. I am not that person anymore. I was scared to change, but it was my only hope.  My life slowly started to get better, and now I barely remember that person. VRC gave me the tools to reclaim my life. Thank you to the staff. They loved me when I could not love myself. I am alive today because VRC cared enough to save my life.

Strengths: Disciplined, no-nonsense facility. Dedicated to achieving legitimate growth and healing. Weaknesses: Overly institutional, mental-hospital-esque. Restrictive of visiting for friends and family. Expected legitimate effort on the treat-ee's behalf--don't do everything for you, nor should they.
