ABOUT VIP COMMUNITY SERVICES
Founded in 1974, VIP Community Services offers residential treatment and outpatient-based programs for adult men and women struggling with chemical dependency and co-occurring disorders. VIP also offers an outpatient opioid treatment program, as well as transitional housing for women in recovery. Although VIP does not provide medical detoxification, medication-assisted therapy (MAT) may be utilized to minimize symptoms of withdrawal.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
To personalize each treatment program, VIP administers an initial substance abuse and psychiatric assessment. If a client requires a structured environment to acquire and sustain sobriety, they may be referred to the intensive, gender-specific residential program. During residential care, clients participate in group and individual counseling sessions to address the underlying issues contributing to their addictive behaviors. Medication management may also be utilized to treat symptoms of co-occurring mental health disorders.
According to the facility’s website, the ultimate goal of the residential program is for the client to gain self-sufficiency. To help achieve this goal, VIP emphasizes educational and vocational planning as a crucial component of treatment and offers referrals to community resources to assist in successful community re-entry. Clients may also be encouraged to utilize VIP’s outpatient programs as a “step-down” aftercare service.
VIP offers two outpatient treatment programs. While one program consists of counseling sessions, mental health support, and follow-up services, VIP also offers a specialized outpatient program for individuals recovering from opioid dependency, which incorporates medication-assisted therapy (Suboxone, methadone) into programming. There is also a women’s-specific outpatient program for those affected by trauma, as well as a women's transitional home.
CARF-accredited, VIP Community Services’ staff is comprised of psychiatrists, licensed substance abuse and mental health counselors, nurses, marriage and family therapists, care coordinators, case managers, and social workers. Three out of the four former clients polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing offered perfect ratings of five stars for the staff’s level of experience and training. The fourth survey respondent did not rate this aspect of treatment.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY
The four former clients polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing praised most aspects of treatment, offering an average rating of four out of five stars for both the facility’s counseling options and its family participation.
Awarding the facility five stars for its ability to treat co-occurring disorders, one anonymous alum wrote: “This facility help change my life.” Another alum described counseling groups as fantastic and told Rehabs.com: “Great place for recovery.” While all survey respondents praised the effectiveness of treatment, they did cite issues of understaffing as a weakness of the facility.
Secondary sources supported these positive opinions. On Google, seven former clients submitted ratings averaging 4.3 out of five stars for the facility. One alum, Aaron, wrote: “This place has changed my life. Without this program i would be in the streets or worse... Thank you VIP.”
