Located in Arlington, Va. and founded in 1974, Virginia Hospital Center is a 350-bed, nonprofit teaching facility. Among the hospital’s medical services is an addiction treatment center, offering inpatient programs, outpatient care, and aftercare. The center is licensed to prescribe Suboxone, Antabuse, Naltrexone, and Vivitrol.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

According to Virginia Hospital Center's website, the hospital follows the 12-Steps and the disease model of addiction. The program is designed to address clients’ holistic needs, in particular by partnering with their family or support system during the treatment process.

Many clients seeking addiction treatment begin their recovery process with a brief detox, under the care and supervision of a 24-hour nursing staff. Clients typically stay in inpatient care between 21 to 28 days.

Each resident receives an individualized treatment plans that usually includes lectures and educational groups, 12-step programming, art therapy, occupational therapy, recreational therapy, meditation education, spiritual care, massage, acupuncture, and sound therapy.

A Families/Concerned Persons Program is also available that allows loved ones to learn about addiction and the recovery process. An intensive outpatient program (IOP) is offered in the daytime and the evening, and it lasts between five and nine weeks. IOP treatment is primarily carried out in group settings.

A continuing care program meets twice a week for 12 weeks, and focuses on relapse prevention and recovery skills. Clients may also attend an aftercare group once a week for up to six months after completing treatment.

I lost control of my life after the death of my daughter, and would seek anything to numb it. This IS the best treatment I could have ever expected. I now go there monthly to talk to the patients about the new life they will have if they beat this disease. Life is so good now. This is a grade A facility.
