Rehabs.com 360 Guide
Founded in 1965 as a single halfway house in Bangor, Wellspring now offers outpatient counseling for substance abuse and mental health disorders, as well as co-occurring disorders treatment at gender-separate sober-living facilities for men and women.
The organization’s website notes that residential clients must be free from mood-altering chemicals on the day of admission, including prescribed psychotropic medications. Wellspring treats court-mandated clients as well as voluntary ones.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
According to Wellspring, the typical length of stay in one of the sober-living facilities is four to six months.
Though the facility’s website refers to the residential facilities for men and women as halfway houses, the site also notes that the men’s facility, “has evolved over the years from a traditional halfway house into a long-term residential substance abuse treatment and rehabilitation program serving men with addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders.”
Rehabs.com reviews indicate that treatment is based on the 12-Steps and the facility’s website also notes that the approach is based around cognitive behavioral techniques. The facility offers individual, group, and family counseling, and educational and vocational counseling.
Treatment and psychiatric consultation for co-occurring mental health disorders, and life skills training is also available. All clients complete regularly scheduled chores. Wellspring also has links with local employment and educational agencies so that it can provide community resources and referrals.
Outpatient treatment is available in the form of an intensive outpatient program (IOP) and general outpatient treatment. Outpatient treatment offers similar treatment to residential programming.
