Rehabs.com 360 Guide

Review by Rehabs.com Contributors

According to White Bird Clinic's website, the organization's stated mission is "to enable people to gain control of their social, emotional, and physical well-being through direct service, education, and community" through "a funny blend of idealism and realism."

Along with a medical clinic, crisis intervention services, a dental program for indigent individuals, case management and assistance services for homeless individuals, the facility offers outpatient treatment programs for adults struggling with mental health concerns, substance abuse, and co-occurring disorders. The clinic is one of 115 facilities in Oregon with special programs for individuals with co-occurring disorders.

Treatment is not based on the 12-Steps, but Chrysalis notes that its services are very compatible with 12-step participation. The program is described as client-centered and humanistic.

Treatment includes individual, couples, and group counseling, educational classes about substance abuse, medical reviews, drug testing, and aftercare. There is a dedicated women's group, parenting group, an opiate dependency group, as well as groups on impulse control and co-occurring disorders. In addition to its traditional approaches, the facility also offers guided yoga sessions, acupuncture, and Tai Chi classes.

Chrysalis is fully licensed by the State of Oregon to provide DUI services as well, making it among the 42.5 percent of facilities to provide specialized programming for those involved in the criminal justice system.

White Bird Clinic uses trained volunteers alongside salaried staff. There is currently no further information provided by the facility regarding its treatment staff, however, the single alum polled by Rehabs.com to date gave the facility five out of five stars for the level of respect found in its counselors and the level of support received from its staff.

The single alum polled by Rehabs.com to date would recommend Chrysalis Behavioral Health. "Great indivdual counseling and staff support," the reviewer wrote anonymously, also giving the facility five stars for its holistic offerings as well as the overall quality of its group counseling.

Secondary review sites yielded mixed feedback at the time of this writing. Seven reviewers on Google gave an average rating of 2.7 out of five stars[1], and a single reviewer on Citehealth offered a one star review. [2] "They were very disorganized and didn't seem to know what they were doing. I'd ask questions and they couldn't give me answers," the anonymous reviewer wrote on CiteHealth.

However, on Google, alum P.N. wrote: "If you need help or treatment this is the only place worth the time and money. They really care about your individual needs as much as they can with alot of clients." On Chrysalis' Facbeook page, which the facility may have the ability to control, 75 individuals gave an average rating of 4.7 out of five stars[3].

This facility accepts the Oregon Health Plan and private insurance, and offers a sliding fee scale, pledging that nobody is turned away because they can't pay. Federal and state funding is available, too, for clients who qualify.
