Clinical Program Manager/Primary Therapist Recovery Institute of Ohio

My name is Jessica Kitchin and I am currently the Clinical Program Manager/Primary Therapist at Recovery Institute of Ohio. In August of 2018, I graduated with my Master’s Degree in Addiction Counseling. I also have a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Obtaining these degrees and progressing in my life was always part of my plan as a child; however, when I started drinking regularly by the age of 12 and using drugs at the age of 16, I didn’t think my life was going to end up the way it has. Even though I attended college for education, I found myself drinking and heavily using drugs, until I dropped out with one semester left. My addiction completely controlled my life.

Recovery isn’t just a matter of getting through detox or graduating from a 30-day rehab program; it’s a lifelong process that requires a long-term commitment to sobriety. When you’re ready to enroll in drug rehab in Bellingham, you’ll need support and guidance from caring professionals. Bellingham, Washington is a compassionate, progressive community that can offer you the kind of support you need if you’re willing to reach out for it.
What to Know Before Entering a Treatment Program
When it comes to staying sober after you leave a Bellingham drug treatment center, clinical research indicates that longer rehabilitation programs have higher success rates. In reality, it’s not always possible to spend two to three months in rehab.

But by committing to a combination of inpatient and outpatient treatment, or by participating in a self-help group after you graduate, you may reduce your chances of a relapse.

How Long Should a Rehab Program Last?

At one time, 30-day rehab programs were the gold standard for drug or alcohol recovery. But according to clinical studies reviewed by the Los Angeles Times:

  • Treatment periods of 60 to 90 days result in lower relapse rates among adult drug users.
  • Treatment periods of 90 days result in lower relapse rates in teenage clients.
  • In all age groups, relapse rates tend to decrease the longer the client stays in treatment.
  • Longer rehabilitation programs are more effective at teaching and reinforcing the life skills required for sobriety.
