Guide To Burnsville Rehab Program
Burnsville, Minnesota offers a mecca of outdoor activity opportunities. It is home to a vertical ski destination called Buck Hill. Based on the opportunity for adventure in the Burnsville area, many residents are amateur and professional athletes.

According to the Office of Drug and Alcohol Education at the University of Notre Dam, even fitness-focused individuals engage in alcohol use and that can be harmful to their physical performance.

Individuals who perform physical activities regularly rely upon the secretion of human growth hormone for muscle recovery. This reduces injuries and allows them to maintain a daily fitness routine. When alcohol is consumed, the potential for muscle recovery is reduced as the production of human growth hormone declines by as much as 70 percent. If an individual drinks on two or more consecutive nights, they may maintain these effects for up to five days.

Even when athletes are familiar with the negative repercussions of drinking on their bodies, addiction can overpower logic. When alcohol abuse is present, treatment must be sought.

What to Look at Before Going to a Rehab Program

When choosing a rehab program as an athlete, do not be afraid to ask a facility how they incorporate physical activity into their recovery programs. While in recovery, maintaining your health and physical fitness is important and can ultimately be a positive outlet that distracts you from your desire to drink or use drugs. You want to ensure that athletic programs allow you to get involved in specific physical activities you enjoy.
