Letty Owings Center

I think the treatment is pretty effective. The program is for women and children, reuniting moms with their children who are in foster care or unborn. A lot of parenting skills are emphasized and a lot of families are reunited. We allow mothers to have their children in treatment with them. This is especially important for pregnant women with a history of using. Their baby would be removed at birth in most cases. By coming into treatment prior to giving birth, most of our babies are born drug free. The mother can return to the facility with her child and the support of our staff. We have an onsite pediatric nurse and a licensed nursery. We encourage breast feeding and bonding. Most of these women do not have a clue about being a mother and are eager to learn. Due to budget constraints we are unable to offer many "extra" curricular activities for the women. We do have yoga and acupuncture but there are so many cultural events that happen in our city that it would be awesome to expose these women to but this is beyond our budget.

View Dothan Treatment Centers Dothan, Alabama is the peanut capital of the world and an agricultural hub of activity; however, Dale County has also recently experienced cultivation and distribution activity that reaches far beyond peanuts. After a three-month drug investigation in the spring of 2012, eight drug arrests were made for the distribution of controlled substances (prescription medications), marijuana trafficking, and the manufacturing of methamphetamine. One individual was also charged with child endangerment when a minor was found residing in a meth lab. This recent scenario brings interesting points to light about the drug trade, and what constitutes effective rehabilitation.
Individuals involved in drug manufacturing often do so to fund their own personal use. Addressing one's addiction in a Dothan treatment center can therefore be a life-changing experience.
The payoff is that addiction recovery also eliminates the desire to engage in criminal activity, and the physical dangers associated with drug manufacturing. If you have been leading a lifestyle driven by drug use and manufacturing, attending a treatment center could save your life.Risks Posed by Meth Labs
There are many physical dangers associated with methamphetamine manufacturing, according to the Office of Justice Programs, that put the addict (if he/she is also a manufacturer), the household and the neighborhood at risk. These include:

  • Chemical contamination
  • Fires and explosions (a risk that leads to the discovery of 15 percent of meth labs)
  • The presence of weapons

Additionally, if there are children living where meth manufacturing takes place, there is an increased risk of abuse and neglect.

Questions to Answer Before Enrolling in Rehabilitation Treatment

When you have been engaged in the high-risk lifestyle that is associated with drug manufacturing and distribution, you need to be willing to enter rehabilitation treatment and participate honestly. Behavioral rehabilitation is an essential part of the process, particularly when the lifestyle has maintained such a hold on you. Be sure to ask yourself if you can do that, or you may not experience all the benefits of recovery.
