Clinical Program Manager/Primary Therapist Recovery Institute of Ohio

My name is Jessica Kitchin and I am currently the Clinical Program Manager/Primary Therapist at Recovery Institute of Ohio. In August of 2018, I graduated with my Master’s Degree in Addiction Counseling. I also have a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Obtaining these degrees and progressing in my life was always part of my plan as a child; however, when I started drinking regularly by the age of 12 and using drugs at the age of 16, I didn’t think my life was going to end up the way it has. Even though I attended college for education, I found myself drinking and heavily using drugs, until I dropped out with one semester left. My addiction completely controlled my life.

Locating Eastpointe Recovery Programs
High unemployment rates and continued job losses have placed many Michigan residents at their wits’ end as to how to survive in today’s economy. Eastpointedrug rehab programs are there for anyone who’s turned to drugs or alcohol for relief only to find themselves with more problems than they had before.

Getting a handle on an addiction problem starts with research and locating available treatment options in Eastpointe for yourself or for someone you know.

Get Treatment for All Your Co-Occurring Issues

Addiction problems and psychological disorders tend to go hand in hand, especially in cases where a person has a long history of drug use. Drug or alcohol addictions often result when a person’s ability to cope with a life stressor or pressure is lacking. Likewise, someone suffering from depression may also have difficulty coping with life stressors. In effect, co-occurring issues tend to get worse when one or both conditions are left untreated as one will feed into the symptoms of the other. So, it’s important to get treatment for any other conditions you may have that feed an addiction problem.

Women and Drug Addiction

Women-run households with children in tow are often under enormous amounts of stress in trying to meet financial needs for their families. According to the Office of National Drug Control Policy, certain risk factors for women and teenagers make them particularly susceptible to drug addiction. Some of the risk factors noted include:

  • Low self-esteem
  • Depression disorders
  • Biological predisposition towards addiction
  • Peer pressures
