A Look at Edina Recovery Programs
For most people struggling with an addiction, finding drugs is not the problem – avoiding drugs is. Edina drug rehab centers help people make the everyday choices that allow for a drug-free existence, no matter how accessible a drug may be.
Signs Your Loved One Needs Treatment
Minnesota law enforcement officials contend with drug-related crimes on an ongoing basis. A 2012 news article on the Minnesota U. S. Attorney’s Office site describes yet another drug-related arrest within the state. Signs of addiction in a loved one may be the only way you’ll know that they are in need of treatment as most addicted persons refuse to acknowledge they have a problem. Things to look out for include changes in appearance in terms of taking on an untidy or disheveled look. Sudden weight gain or weight loss may be another sign of addiction. Problems at school or at work are also possible indicators that addiction help is needed.Effects of Drug Abuse on Women

According to the Office of National Drug Control Policy, rates of drug abuse among women have increased considerably since the 1990s. Studies have shown that women involved with drug-related activities are more vulnerable to certain dangers than men in the same situations. Situations where women are more vulnerable include:

  • Sexual abuse
  • Domestic violence
  • Child custody disputes
  • Prenatal complications
