Discovery Point Retreat

I came here six months ago to do something about my meth addiction. To be honest I didn’t know what I was getting myself into but I took the chance. With the help and great support from all the therapists and case manager I finished the whole program without leaving.

Pine Manor Inc - Chemical Dependency Services

I don't discredit the facility entirely, I just disagree with some views and the way some things are presented. Their employees see m to care for those being treated and many have overcome addictions as well. I do feel, however, that the patients in the faculty should be helped to feel in control of their lives. Less like powerless victims of their chosen substances, and more like wise beings in control of their bodies and their urges/addictions. I know it's not an easy thing to overcome by any means, but I also knowthat my father came out of the facility with a handful of excuses for the things he'd done, the reasons for his addictions, and its result it had on our family and other loved ones. He learned that it was not his fault that he turned to drugs and alcohol to begin with, that he kept going back to them orr that he just couldn't quit. He believed that the only reason he became who he was, was because of the childhood he had. The very things he described as leading to his addictions are the very same things he afflicted onto me, without the added events of a parent or relative abusing (sexually, mentally, and verbally) him. These factors were brought up in a family treatment session, where the counselor had him apologize to me, but explain that his actions were not his fault, but his addiction's fault. But I begged the counselor to answer that if the events of his childhood made him powerless to addiction, and I had the same events and more unfold, an addictive personality and access to the same drugs and alcohol my father was addicted to and had offered me, then how was I not as powerless to them when I was not only weak, but they had been forced upon me? I know it's a long ramble, but in short, the facility was very quick to help my father release him from his guilt and tell him "relapse is going to happen, and that's ok, because it isn't your fault. You're addiction controls you and there is little you can do about it but believe in god."

Information on Fremont, CA Drug Addiction Rehab and Detox Clinics If you were to walk through the halls of a Fremont, CA drug addiction rehab program, it's likely that you wouldn't hear two stories of addiction that were exactly the same. In fact, it's quite possible that you wouldn't meet anyone who had an addiction story that was just like yours in every way. However, it's also likely that your interviews would be inspiring, as you'd be listening to people who admitted that they had an addiction, and then vowed to do something about it. Perhaps you'd be motivated to do the same. The Need for Being Admitted Into a Drug Detox Clinic

A study published in the journal Evaluation Review followed 471 heroin addicts who were admitted between 1964 and 1965 to the California Civil Addict program. In the 33 years of the study, researchers found that the addicts could be differentiated into at least three groups, but all of these different kinds of addictions seemed to be chronic. The issues the addicts faced were serious, and they didn't seem to simply disappear on their own. That's why getting help for an addiction is so very important.

Living with a chronic condition like an addiction means making a commitment to fighting that problem each day, and then learning how to combat that problem, even when times get tough. Addiction programs can help you to do just that.
Choosing a Therapist

The bulk of your rehab program will involve therapy. You'll be paired with a therapist who can help you to understand your addiction and work through the consequences the addiction has created. These are good questions to ask your therapist, to ensure you have a good fit:

  • Have you treated my kind of addiction before?
  • Do you also assist with mental illnesses, such as depression?
  • How long have you been in practice?
  • Are you licensed by the state?
Comparing Recovery Programs in Fremont, CA

Most Fremont, CA drug addiction treatment programs won't allow you to walk in and interview their clients. Privacy concerns tend to ensure that clients won't be subjected to multiple tours of the facilities. That doesn't mean, however, that you can't learn about the facilities in Fremont before you enroll. In fact, you can learn a great deal about the facilities in your area without ever leaving your house.
