Patel Ranjan PSY.D- MFT

Been doing telemedicine with her for a while, and due to finances, I wanted very short term therapy and though I tried to pin her down on how many sessions I'd need, she refused to give me that, which looking back, I understand. Lucky for me, I was in and out in eight visits, which my work covered partially. I was initially on the fence about seeing her because of her fee (she's more expensive than the other therapist I checked with), but I went with my gut because when I talked to her over the phone, she not only took her time and spent as long as I needed, for free, but she actively told me that she encouraged me to reach out to other therapists so I wouldn't haveI've to pay more than I'm comfortable with, she gave me some referrals. But I decided to see her and it's been worth it; she gives assignments and structure because I asked for it, and also talked to my psychiatrist, which helped me feel like I have a team.

Rose Rock Recovery Center

Strengths: Focus on source of problems and not the negative coping mechanisms we were abusing. Specifically focused on woman's issues. Weaknesses: No sugar or pop.It is a long term 3-6 month program where you and your fellow clients will work together to help and keep each other accountable. The facilitators and counselors are genuine honest woman who are in recovery themselves and truly care about helping.

Finding Houma Rehabilitation Programs
Many Louisiana residents continue to rebuild their lives in the wake of horrendous storms and destruction in the region. Turning to drugs or alcohol during times of pressure and loss is much of what Houma drug rehab programs work with when helping people overcome drug addictions.

Finding out about the types of treatment services available is a good first step towards reclaiming your life from the holds of addiction.

The Importance of Getting All Co-Occurring Issues Treated

According to a Bryn Mawr College resource page, there’s a one-in-two chance that someone with an addiction problem also suffers from some type of psychological problem. Depression, anxiety disorders and post-traumatic stress disorder are just some of the conditions commonly associated with drug addiction problems. When co-occurring issues are involved, it’s likely that one condition is aggravating or feeding into the other condition and vice versa. This makes it all the more important to ensure you receive treatment for any conditions that may be aggravating an addiction problem.

Prescription Drug Abuse Rates

Someone taking a prescription medication for depression or anxiety disorders may be especially susceptible to over-medicating in an attempt to relieve the effects of their condition. According to the U. S. Drug Enforcement Administration, ongoing rates for prescription drug abuse are a cause for concern. Statistics on addiction to prescription drugs include the following data:

  • An estimated 2,500 teenagers use prescription drugs for recreational purposes on a daily basis.
  • As of 2009, 7 million people reported using prescriptions medications for recreational purposes.
  • The rate of prescription drug abuse increased by 13 percent between the years 2008 and 2009.
  • Prescription drug addictions have caused more overdose deaths than the abuse of “street” drugs.
