Patel Ranjan PSY.D- MFT

Been doing telemedicine with her for a while, and due to finances, I wanted very short term therapy and though I tried to pin her down on how many sessions I'd need, she refused to give me that, which looking back, I understand. Lucky for me, I was in and out in eight visits, which my work covered partially. I was initially on the fence about seeing her because of her fee (she's more expensive than the other therapist I checked with), but I went with my gut because when I talked to her over the phone, she not only took her time and spent as long as I needed, for free, but she actively told me that she encouraged me to reach out to other therapists so I wouldn't haveI've to pay more than I'm comfortable with, she gave me some referrals. But I decided to see her and it's been worth it; she gives assignments and structure because I asked for it, and also talked to my psychiatrist, which helped me feel like I have a team.

If you or someone you know in Ocoee suffers from addiction as well as a mental health condition, finding treatment for both problems is essential to maintaining sobriety. When left untreated, a mental health condition, such as anxiety attacks, a personality disorder or bouts with depression, can aggravate a person’s desire to use drugs or drink excessively. Ongoing drug or alcohol use often worsens any symptoms associated with a mental health problem. In essence, the mental health issue must be treated in order for the person to truly recover.

Women-Focused Drug Treatment Services

Addiction can happen to men and women alike, though women often require specialized services when entering a drug treatment program. In order for drug treatment to be effect, it’s important to also get help for any problem areas that can affect a person’s recovery process.

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental health treatment Administration, women-focused drug treatment services may include:
  • Sexual abuse counseling
  • Domestic violence assistance
  • Child care services
  • Prenatal care

Locating Recovery Services in Ocoee

Many programs have their own structure in terms of the steps used to help a person with an addiction problem. Traditional treatment programs take a more evidence-based approach to treatment, while holistic or alternative treatment programs place a heavy emphasis on balance and healing throughout the treatment process.

Treatment centers should provide individualized care that focuses on the needs and challenges affecting each individual at that point in their recovery.
