Clinical Program Manager/Primary Therapist Recovery Institute of Ohio

My name is Jessica Kitchin and I am currently the Clinical Program Manager/Primary Therapist at Recovery Institute of Ohio. In August of 2018, I graduated with my Master’s Degree in Addiction Counseling. I also have a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Obtaining these degrees and progressing in my life was always part of my plan as a child; however, when I started drinking regularly by the age of 12 and using drugs at the age of 16, I didn’t think my life was going to end up the way it has. Even though I attended college for education, I found myself drinking and heavily using drugs, until I dropped out with one semester left. My addiction completely controlled my life.

Facts About Pharr Treatment Services
Pharr is a smaller city in Hidalgo County, Texas that is connected to Mexico by the Pharr-Reynosa Bridge. Pharr has a modest population of 70,000 and received the “All America City” award in 2006 because of its strong sense of community. Unfortunately, like many border towns, Pharr struggles with a high level of accessibility to drugs and high levels of substance abuse among its population.

Pharr treatment services offer help to a diverse range of individuals struggling with all types of substance abuse issues.

Questions to Get Answered Before Enrolling in Rehab Treatment

According to a study from the University of Texas in 2006, issues with drug addiction have been on the rise since 1998. Sadly, the percentage of people who seek treatment has been on the decline. The average person may feel intimidated or even afraid to get help, resulting in too few individuals getting treated for their addiction issues.

Before entering a drug treatment program be sure to get the following questions answered:

  • How much will drug addiction treatment cost me? Some programs offer payment plans, and some insurance companies may cover the cost of treatment. Understand your options before disregarding the possibility of treatment because it seems too expensive.
  • What kind of treatment program is right for me? There are many different types of drug addiction treatment programs – from inpatient to outpatient, or traditional to holistic. Different individuals and specific types of addicts will have different needs with it comes to treatment.
  • Is this program right for me and my family? Meet with a counselor and decide what type of program would best suit your needs.

What Are the Warning Signs of Drug Addiction?

Being aware of your loved one’s addiction is a critical step in ensuring they get the treatment they need. Here are some common signs of drug abuse or addiction:

  • Bloodshot eyes, or overly large or small pupils
  • Deterioration in grooming habits
  • Decrease in performance or attendance at work or school
  • Sudden changes in friends or habits
