Sojourn House

Rigid schedule . Too far from home to be able to visit regularly on the scheduled visit days once a week. Son was court ordered to go to Sojourn House for treatment. We were pleased with the staff there. Things were explained to us well.

Discovery Point Retreat

They Accomadated every need for My Son from Day he made his decision to seek help. He flew to Texas and was picked up at the airport by staff. I was allowed to see him the very next day, visitation were just about over but they let us have a visit anyways. Rooms are spacious and may not be a facility as someone stated but the House is Large, spacious, clean, and just has that home, secure, quiet, inviting feel. The are is perfect quiet and serene. Therapy and couseling on site my son loved everything about the way the had control of everything that was in his best interest. The staff, The Chef, The People i always knew how his progress was coming along and even included in therapy sessions. My son understand about addiction, the triggers, the control and the reason and maintains his sobriety, contact with others that were also in treatment with him, He considers all of them as family. Everyone there made him feel so comfortable, important and loved. At check out it took us all day for him to get everything together because he was truly going to miss Everything and Everyone, ( The Food) The outings, The Therapy, The couseling . The Owners, Management, The Staff I commend on The excellent job they are doing The are all Truly a Blessing. Strengths: Their knowledge in all areas of helping everyone. Knowing exactly what each persons individual needs are from The addiction ,the emotional, therapeutic, dietary. Weakness: Sober Living facility. I think my son was probably sent to the worst one. Was told he had to have a job within 2 weeks or going to be kicked out while another individual was there before him, still there and still unemployed. My son working 3rd shift going to sleep at 6 a.m. was woken up anyways for meditation at 7 even though he just worked at 12 hour shifts ( inconsiderate) people were eating his groceries. And managers of the house had dogs and dog hair everywhere and were offended that he mention about the dogs being all over furniture. Cardinal House of Dalls/Garland definitely Not recommended and was really in awe that Discovery Point Retreat would even be affiliated with a place like that. That would be the only negative on them with me.

Exploring Portage Treatment Centers
Drug-related crimes are one of the many harmful effects of drug addiction. Portage drug rehab treatment centers are there to help people eliminate addiction and its harmful effects from their lives. An April 2012 news article on the City of Portage site gives an account of a recent drug arrest made in Portage involving gun and narcotics possession. An addiction left to its own devices will oftentimes lead a person to jail or even death. Getting the help you need may be one of the most important decisions you can make in your life.
When to Search for Professional Care
When an alcohol or drug addiction starts to take over a person’s life, it’s not hard to spot the changes that take place. Ongoing drug use damages the body, so someone abusing drugs may start to have frequent health problems. As drugs become more and more important, close relationships and friendship may start to suffer and eventually fall away. A person’s work performance also starts to decline, often resulting in job loss.

If you or someone you know is actively using drugs and has had changes like these take place in their life, it may be time to seek out professional help.

Alcohol’s Long-Term Effects

Alcohol abuse is the most common addiction in the United States. It’s also the most untreated condition or disease in the country. According to the Florida Institute of Technology, an estimated 35 out of every 36 people affected by alcohol addiction never seek out treatment. Over time, long-term effects will begin to become a part of person’s everyday physical makeup. Some of the effects to look out for include:

  • Impaired mental abilities
  • Nutritional imbalances in the body
  • Memory loss
  • Continuous withdrawal effects, such as tremors and hallucinations
