Adventist HealthCare Behavioral Health & Wellness Services

The staff was very professional and experienced and the facility was well-kept. The food could have been better. I think it was a big part of my son's eventual recovery, but he was in the program only one time and it took a while before he finally gave up pot. At least he has been clean for a couple of years now and I hope it continues.

Clinical Program Manager/Primary Therapist Recovery Institute of Ohio

My name is Jessica Kitchin and I am currently the Clinical Program Manager/Primary Therapist at Recovery Institute of Ohio. In August of 2018, I graduated with my Master’s Degree in Addiction Counseling. I also have a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Obtaining these degrees and progressing in my life was always part of my plan as a child; however, when I started drinking regularly by the age of 12 and using drugs at the age of 16, I didn’t think my life was going to end up the way it has. Even though I attended college for education, I found myself drinking and heavily using drugs, until I dropped out with one semester left. My addiction completely controlled my life.

Rockville treatment centers are there for anyone who’s struggling with addiction problems and wants to make a change in their life. After a while, addiction to drugs can drive a person to do things they wouldn’t normally do in order to support a drug habit. The Montgomery County, Maryland website reports a total of 14,750 criminal offenses took place in 2011, over half of which were drug-related.

Fortunately, there’s help for those who want to make a change for the better.

Questions to Get Answered Before Going to Treatment
Many people enter into drug rehabilitation with the intention of eliminating drugs and alcohol from their lives once and for all. Oftentimes, the question “What happens if I relapse?” doesn’t get asked. While this approach does show good intentions, it tends to create an unnecessary pressure to succeed. The truth of the matter is recovering from drug addiction is a process, which makes relapse a very real possibility at some point during the recovery process. The important thing to remember is to follow through on your intention to get clean even after a relapse occurs.Drug Abuse Effects on Children

While no one intends for their children to be affected by drug use, accidents are more likely to happen when a person is not thinking clearly. The U. S. Department of Health & Human Services has tracked a number of emergency room admissions involving accidents with children and drugs. For the year 2007, data collected regarding these admissions records the number of hospital visits and the ages of the children:

  • 69.9 percent of emergency room admissions for accidental drug ingestion involved children 5 years old and younger
  • 42.3 percent of the children admitted were 2 years old
  • 29.5 percent were 1 year old
  • 8.7 percent of these children required ongoing inpatient care and treatment
