Discovery Point Retreat

This was the first rehab that I went to and I am glad to say that this will probably be my last. It was great that this facility had detox and all the other levels of care since many of my friends had to go to 2 separate places. It was really a comfortable and enjoyable place to be at.

An Overview of Romeoville Treatment Centers
The city of Romeoville, Illinois has a name that conjures up images of romance. While 64 percent of the city’s population is made up of married couples, substance abuse manages to rock relationships to their core.

According to the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, behaviors that are harmful to intimate relationships as a result of alcohol or drug abuse include the following:
  • Frequent arguments, whether it is over the drug use itself, or because the addict experiences regular mood swings that are taken out on loved ones
  • Destructive drinking behaviors by the couple, as one individual mirrors the behavior to find a mutual activity
  • Violent or irrational behavior
  • Isolation as the sober individual in the couple tries to cover up the substance abuse of the other individual

Comparing Residential and Outpatient recovery program Clinics

Both outpatient and residential treatment options incorporate family into their programs. Individuals who have spouses who have been affected by their addiction need to regain their trust and support. Rebuilding those close, interpersonal relationships is an essential part of the recovery process.

Outpatient recovery program treatment may quickly incorporate family members into the treatment plan since recovery is less intensive. Residential programs on the other hand may keep the addict isolated for a short period of time so they can do some work independently, with the family component introduced later.
