Clinical Director Midwest Recovery Centers

Kevin has been involved in the field of drug and alcohol counseling for over 10 years. Growing up in Georgia, addiction was prevalent in his own household. After his own battle with drugs and alcohol as a young man, he found a natural passion to help others find a way to break away from the misery of drugs and alcohol dependence. This passion prompted Kevin to begin a career studying and understanding the various techniques in which to approach and treat patients with drug dependence. Through his many opportunities working in health care, Kevin has developed the understanding that addiction is a disease that needs to be treated with time, care, and understanding. As a member of long-term recovery himself, Kevin is able to promote the values of honesty and integrity in his daily practice.

A suspicious vehicle in Sierra Vista, Arizona in July 2012 led to a major marijuana bust and four arrests. Police officers followed the vehicle to a house. At the house, police searched the car and found $177,000 in marijuana. Marijuana is a major problem in many areas of the United States, including in Sierra Vista.

Many are unaware of the full range of its effects and claim that it is safe, harmless and non-addictive, which are all false.

What to Bring to Recovery

Many facilities will ask you to bring proper sleepwear, including a robe. There may be activities and meetings at night, so the facility will want to ensure you are dressed appropriately to be around other patients. Check with your facility before arriving and make sure you pack the right clothing, since what you can and cannot bring varies from one recovery facility to another.

Drinking During Pregnancy

Although many women will immediately stop drinking alcohol once they learn they are pregnant, some are so addicted that they cannot stop. Continuing to drink risks damage to the growing fetus.

Here are some common effects of drinking during pregnancy.
  • Premature birth
  • Defective organs
  • Developmental issues
  • Learning disabilities
  • Problems with memory and attention span
  • Stillbirth
