A Look at Yonkers Treatment Centers With its scenic location on the Hudson River, Yonkers might seem far removed from the cocaine wars and gang conflicts of New York City. But the battle against cocaine and other deadly drugs has driven many residents to seek help from drug rehab professionals in Yonkers.

Cocaine is one of the most addictive substances available, and repairing a life that's been devastated by the drug takes a lot more than willpower.

The Need for Going to a Rehabilitation Facility

Like other central nervous system stimulants, cocaine provides a rush of energy that can make you feel invincible. The drug interferes with the brain's natural reward system by generating intense sensations of euphoria and self-confidence. After the high of a cocaine binge subsides, the user experiences an equally overpowering sense of depression and fatigue, which can only be relieved by another hit.

The National Institute on Drug Abuse reports that in 2008, there were close to 2 million cocaine users in the United States. Out of this number, over 350,000 used crack, an exceptionally addictive form of the drug that can be smoked or freebased.

At Yonkers drug treatment programs, addiction professionals can help you understand why this drug is so addictive, and why it has such a destructive influence on your life.

Medically supervised cocaine detox helps you get past the worst of the cravings and withdrawal symptoms, so you can concentrate on building a positive, healthy future.

How Do I Know if I Have a Cocaine Problem?

Before you can admit that you have a problem with cocaine, you have to be able to recognize the signs that you're losing control. Cocaine Anonymous, a 12-step recovery program, suggests that you may have a problem if you:

  • Can't put a limit on your cocaine use
  • Miss work frequently
  • Feel depressed or guilty about your drug habit
  • Have frequent nosebleeds or sinus infections
  • Have an irregular heartbeat or other new heart problems
  • Feel high just anticipating cocaine use

A Yonkers drug treatment center isn't just for heavy drug users who've hit rock bottom. You can get help for drug or alcohol abuse at any stage of addiction; in fact, the earlier you discover that you're losing control over your cocaine use, the more likely you are to avoid the more serious repercussions, like heart problems, job loss, financial difficulties, divorce and arrest.

Instead of waiting until cocaine takes a real toll on your life, talk with one of our addiction specialists about how you can find the treatment you need to turn your life around today.
