My experience with Ocean Breeze and all of the staff there was incredible. The concern, the level of care and the learning and growth I experienced really took me by surprise. I never knew treatment could be so much fun and I was very grateful to spend so much time by the beach. The staff of Ocean Breeze truly inspired me to do whatever it takes not to return to the misery I was once in.
Before I went to Ocean Breeze I knew nothing about AA, journalism, or meditation. Now they are all a part of my daily life in recovery. The most important thing I learned during my treatment was how my mindset, behaviors, attitudes and negative beliefs all fed into my alcoholism. Ocean Breeze gave me a lot of tools to help me start to change and manage all these parts of me which are extremely helpful now that I’m home and back at work.
I am really excited about what happened for me at OBR. I have been involved in another residential rehab program in the past and I feel the groups and classes at Ocean Breeze were far superior. I got a lot of information and guidance from everyone there. Participation in AA was great and I realize now that I must continue to be involved in a 12-step program where I can be held accountable and be around other recovering alcoholics. Thank you Ocean Breeze!
The rejuvenating part of program for me was the beach and pool, bowling, taking walks, going out for lunch, getting my hair and nails done and shopping. I am so very grateful for the opportunity of recovery at Ocean Breeze. I am sober, happy and healthy as I hand my will and my life over to the care of God every day trusting that everything will fall into place when it is time. Thank you OBR.

ABOUT OCEAN BREEZE RECOVERY
Ocean Breeze Recovery (OBR) is a state-licensed center that offers a full continuum of treatment programs and services for individuals and families affected by addiction. Located in Pompano Beach, Fla., within walking distance to the beach, OBR specializes in treating clients with co-occurring mental health disorders through its detox, residential, outpatient (both IOP and standard), and alumni support programs.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
The admissions process at OBR begins with a comprehensive evaluation, the findings of which form the basis of each client’s personalized treatment plan.
Individuals requiring intensive treatment and a 24-hour supervised setting may be best suited for inpatient treatment. Inpatients benefit from a curriculum of holistic care options, like yoga, meditation, and acupuncture, as well as 12-Step work, and individual and group therapy sessions that make use of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), and other evidence-based practices. Inpatients also learn to develop practical, everyday life skills ranging from budgeting to time management.
Offering similar treatments, OBR’s intensive outpatient (IOP) and standard outpatient programs take place at a lower intensity. Outpatients may attend treatment either day or evening before returning home each night. There’s an added emphasis on relapse prevention in these non-residential services, making them a solid option for those transitioning from an inpatient setting. OBR also offers treatment in gender-separate settings as well as a program that combines traditional therapy practices with Christ-based teachings.
Treatment at Ocean Breeze Recovery is overseen by a medical doctor who is triple-board certified in psychiatry, psychosomatic medicine, and addiction medicine. There are also psychologists, psychiatrists, and master’s-level mental health therapists and counselors on staff.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
Clients reside in apartment-style accommodations located within walking distance of the beach. These apartments come fully furnished and have a modern kitchen and outdoor patio. Bedrooms are typically shared. Transportation is provided to treatment, local recovery groups, and any medical or legal appointments, and clients have access to a fitness and wellness center, bowling, and other recovery activities.
WHAT ALUMNI SAY
More than 200 former clients and loved ones combined wrote in to Rehabs.com on their or their loved one’s recovery experiences. Rather impressively with a collection this large, feedback was mostly excellent. Some exceptions exist.
Taken together, alumni described the staff as personable, kind, helpful, loving, and experienced, and the environment as home-like, warm, and supportive. More than 18 credited the facility with saving their lives and many more called it the best treatment program they’ve ever attended. Others appreciated the staff, many of whom were also in the process of recovery. As G.Z. put it: “They truly understand and care. They also know what they’re talking about.”
While alumni disagreed over the state of the facility - some calling it “beautiful,” “clean,” even “extremely soothing,” others labelling the residence “filthy” or “old, dirty, and run down” - none argued over the unique access to beaches and activities provided. “They also help integrate us back into society by letting us go out to eat, to the beach, and do fun activities such as bowling and the movies,” wrote Mason.
WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY
More than 10 Rehabs.com survey respondents also shared details of their loved one’s positive treatment experiences and outcomes.
“Ocean Breeze rocks!” wrote Melissa, in perhaps the most exceptional recovery story. “My husband is doing amazing!” Hes working and paying his own way through treatment and getting his life back. We have 5 kids and they are getting their father back. He is a completely different person than before he went into treatment... I now have the man that I fell in love with back.”
Despite their claim that counselors who were “not as effective as others,” B.J.C. maintained that their loved one “would not be here today without the treatment received at OBR,” while a third family member shared their findings: “I think the employees at this facility do their best to help individuals find a new way to live.” “They are constantly improving for the better,” wrote D., a parent.
“Ocean Breeze needs to work on communicating with the involved families,” an anonymous reviewer wrote, much in contrast to others. “Very unprofessional, unorganized, non-communicative. Go somewhere that will talk to you.”
On average, nine loved ones gave OBR ratings between 3 and 4 out of five stars for its family participation, its policies concerning connectivity outside of treatment, and its staff’s level of training and experience.
According to the facility's website, OBR is “glad to accept most insurance plans.” Admissions staff are also available to help prospective clients determine their eligibility and assess any out-of-pocket expenses. Financing options are made possible through the center’s partnership with American Healthcare Lending.
