About Sabino Recovery
HEALING RECOVERY FROM TRAUMA, ALCOHOLISM AND ADDICTION - Sabino Recovery offers both a 35-day residential program as well as in Intensive Outpatient Program for those suffering from trauma and addictions as well other mental health issues such as PTSD, anxiety and depression. Our program provides comprehensive and personalized treatment in a safe, healing environment. PERSONAL, INDIVIDUAL - The campus is set on over 100 acres of stunning desert beauty, but is still intimate and personal. By keeping the number of residents we treat small, we are able to pay particular attention to each resident’s unique history and needs. Each resident has their own, private room and private bath. We have no "treatment tracks" which means each resident has a specific treatment plan developed after careful assessment. Everyone's progress is closely monitored and the multi-disciplinary team meets daily to redesign the treatment plan as the resident’s recovery progresses. STAFF - Our treatment staff consists of carefully selected, highly credentialed, licensed individuals who work in a team environment to deliver care for our residents. Each employee at Sabino Recovery is carefully interviewed before being considered for our team. We handpick our staff not only for their experience and skill, but also for possessing a great deal of empathy, nurturing, and compassion. It is because of this careful selection process that we’ve created a remarkable environment for the healing of our residents. NEUROSCIENCE - Our treatment program is shaped by the latest research in neuroscience. Each of the modalities that we employ support healing through leveraging therapies which boost neuroplasticity – the brain's ability to reorganize itself by forming new neural connections. We are unique in that we offer QEEG Brain Mapping. This additional service is a powerful tool which measures the electrical function of the brain and in turn provides data to prioritize and optimize treatment. Based on what we find in brain mapping, we also offer neurofeedback and biofeedback. INTEGRATIVE THERAPIES - At Sabino Recovery, Integrative Therapies such as massage, acupuncture, Somatic Experiencing, and art therapy are not adjunct treatment; they are a critical part of the entire clinical program. All of the integrative therapies at Sabino Recovery are prescribed and combined to fit into the complete master treatment plan for the resident.
At Sabino Recovery we understand that lasting recovery for our residents depends on the involvement of those closest to them. We invite each resident and their families to participate in our Family Program – a three-day, experiential program designed to reconnect you with your loved one. Our family program has been developed to provide family members the opportunity to gain insight into their family’s dynamics, and to support the honest and effective communication of fears, pain, and hope in a safe environment. The family program is both educational and psychodynamic. It supports you in sharing thoughts and feelings with your loved one in an honest and non-judgmental way. The program includes education about family systems as well as techniques you and your family members can use to communicate more effectively. We emphasize not assigning blame to anyone during this time but rather encourage discovery and compassionate understanding of each other through safely guided exercises. Our experience has shown that when family members experience each other with a compassionate understanding they are able to break communication and relationship patterns that have lasted for years. Research shows that the odds of successful, sustained recovery from addiction are far higher when family members and loved ones are involved in treatment. Drug and alcohol addiction often have genetic roots, whether related to substance abuse, mental illness or both. Family dynamics also play a role and, often, family members are the first to realize a loved one has developed an addiction. Also, it’s important for family members to understand and embrace the lifestyle changes that are required to sustain recovery.
Many times those who are faced sexual and emotional betrayal by someone they have loved and trusted are deeply wounded and confused and describe it as if their life has been pulled out from underneath them. You are not to blame for this crisis. You did not cause it or create it. Throughout your journey, we are here to provide information, focus and support. We will help you learn how to take care of yourself – as it is likely that your body and brain have been affected by this trauma, and your spirit is surely damaged too. We are here to help you through the trauma, to understand how to communicate your feelings, make empowered choices, and reclaim your own sexuality. Our goal is to help you find a sense of validation knowing that many people find themselves in similar situations. It is entirely possible that you can learn to thrive and even discover gifts buried in the wounds created by sex addiction.
At Sabino Recovery, we acknowledge that what happened in childhood or adult life may cause one to behave irrationally in the present and even to catastrophize the future. Trauma and resulting PTSD, addiction, depression, anxiety, etc. are normal reactions to an abnormal experience. By treating the core issues of trauma such as traumatic grief, traumatic shame and attachment failure, the root of the presenting problem is attended to and the individual is less likely to relapse, continue to feel depression, anxiety or have a need to medicate emotions with unhealthy behaviors such as drugs and alcohol. The model purports that if trauma issues are fully addressed then resulting symptoms also diminish, as the symptoms represent results of traumatic experience. We know that both early childhood trauma and/or adult trauma may be over-reactive and under-reactive. The result of unprocessed trauma can be seen in emotional, behavioral, and psychological extremes. Our program treats the extreme behaviors through empathy, nurturing, kindness, and compassion and targets the treatment toward the trauma roots; one by one if necessary. Trauma is any experience or experiences that are emotionally overwhelming in which one has a real or perceived threat to their safety or life, and/or the safety and life of somebody else.
Eating Disorder Treatment
Many mental health professionals view eating disorders (including anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorder, along with other dysfunctional eating patterns) as a food addiction – in that food is used in ways other than as fuel or a source of pleasure. Some, but not all, addiction treatment programs include eating disorder treatment as part of the service menu. Also, an eating disorder may be a dual-diagnosis or a co-occurring disorder with drug or alcohol addiction.
At Sabino Recovery treatment plans are developed around the very specific needs of each resident. There are no “treatment tracks,” which means each resident’s treatment plan is developed after the person arrives. In addition, progress is closely monitored and the multi-disciplinary team makes real-time adjustments based on the resident’s needs.
Sexual Abuse and Trauma
Those who have survived sexual abuse often experience behavioral issues including PTSD, addiction, anxiety, depression, and relationship problems that can make life unmanageable. Our staff creates a safe, nurturing environment for residents gives survivors of sexual abuse and trauma the support necessary to heal. We prescribe highly personalized treatment plans with carefully selected integrative therapies such as acupuncture, equine therapy, art therapy, Somatic Experiencing and EMDR specific to the resident’s life circumstance. When coupled with individual and group counseling provided by our skilled therapists, the environment is provided to bring those who suffer to better health. We are expert at working with the guilt, shame and relationship troubles that often manifest as well as the core trauma that is causing the symptoms. Ours is an environment of kindness, empathy and trust which allows residents the safety and environment for the hard work of addressing the principal trauma.
Sabino Recovery is one of the first inpatient residential treatment centers to include a state-of-the-art sleep lab. The sleep lab helps provide a complete picture of individuals’ needs that furthers the ability to provide truly customized treatment plan for each resident. The sleep clinic, which allows for sleep assessments and extensive lab testing to be performed on-site, is a key element of recovery from trauma, attachment failure, alcohol addiction, depression, anxiety, PTSD, drug addiction and other co-occurring disorders. With sleep issues being a common factor in addiction, PTSD, and many other conditions caused by trauma, Sabino Recovery’s focus on sleep integrates an important healing component and furthers our commitment to holistic care. While sleep has not traditionally been addressed during the clinical recovery process, Sabino Recovery views it as necessary to treating the whole person.
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
It is often the case that the individuals suffering from PTSD have become accustomed to seeking “safety” in harmful ways such as drug and alcohol. In truth, this isn’t safety at all, but rather a means of attempting (and failing) to cope with the painful effects of trauma. Trauma can alter one’s psychological, biological, and social equilibrium, making recovery from addictions and other unhealthy behaviors difficult or impossible without also treating the root trauma. Sabino Recovery prioritizes the establishment of a physically, emotionally and spiritually safe environment for recovery. Our program incorporates “Seeking Safety,” which is based around the central idea that when a person has both substance abuse issues and trauma, the most urgent clinical need is to establish safety. We practice an evidence-based model that recognizes the connection between substance abuse and trauma, and was developed to meet the need for integrated treatment when these issues are co-occurring. Its goal is an empathetic approach that names the trauma experience, validates its connection to substance use, and offers safe coping skills to manage the often overwhelming emotions experienced with both.
At Sabino Recovery, we recognize that an addiction to drugs can be complicated. Only by understanding the cause are we are able to effectively treat drug abuse and addiction. For some, the use of drugs is a way of medicating difficult emotions, experiences, and memories. Drug use quickly becomes a way to escape those difficult emotions the cause of which often lies in the pain of past trauma. For others, due to a genetic predisposition, what begins as a routine prescription or innocent experimentation quickly escalates to addiction and dependence. Stopping becomes impossible, and will-power powerless. The resulting damage to their lives, relationships, and careers leaves lasting scars. Regardless of the cause, the result is that many find themselves struggling not only with addiction but also with co-occurring disorders such as depression and anxiety. Drug addiction does not resolve itself. It will not just go away. Careful assessment and comprehensive treatment is required for the chance to live a healthy sober life. If left untreated drug addiction is progressive and fatal.
Depression is so prevalent among those seeking treatment at Sabino Recovery that we have “baked in” substantial assessments, therapies, and treatment modalities for the treatment of depression. Our residential depression center is situated on a breathtaking 100 acres of land in Tucson, AZ and provides a luxury environment. This relaxing, safe environment allows our residential depression clients the time, support and surroundings needed to truly heal while receiving the most advanced therapy available today. Nearly everything that is included in our program and your care plan works to heal this devastating and even life-threatening condition.
For those suffering from both mental health issues and addiction, known as “dual diagnosis,” it is critical to find a program that treats both issues. Addictive behaviors are often tightly intertwined and overlap with mental health symptoms. Many people develop their addictions as a coping mechanism to help them manage their mental health symptoms. For instance, those with anxiety will drink or get addicted to pills to help them cope with anxiety attacks or to allow them to control the anxiety that is keeping them from work or social situations. Eventually, they need more and more of the substance until it becomes and an additional source of suffering that can then trigger further complications such as depression. Yet many treatment centers, in reality, spend a disproportionate amount of time treating addiction while those suffering from trauma, depression, anxiety and other behavioral concerns are left mostly untreated. Sabino Recovery is one of the few residential treatment centers designed to treat mental health diagnoses – it’s not on the sideline here – it is central to everything we do. Our program is designed to address not only anxiety, depression, PTSD, and addictions, but also the core issues driving the behavior. We address the root causes early in treatment and support each resident with a dedicated and experienced staff who create physical and emotional safety through empathetic, compassionate, and consistent treatment. This, in combination with our carefully selected psychotherapeutic, psychiatric and integrative (mind/body) therapies provide the skills necessary to build a sober and healthy life.Your plan is developed around your very specific needs. There are no “treatment tracts,” which means your treatment plan is developed just for you after you arrive and will include the whole of your life not just your diagnosis and addiction. It will account for your past and present and the many overlapping and intertwining symptoms that you are experiencing.

Robin G.I've witnessed beautiful miracles occur in the lives of people who come here to recover and change.
ScottEverybody here is treated with kindness, and respect.
E.E.I felt that the staff, including therapists, medical professionals, paraprofessionals, chefs, and body workers were very personable, caring and professional. I came in with alcoholism secondary to childhood trauma and ptsd and I never felt so safe ever in my life. It was a profound experience. I have renewed energy for human connection and even though it was a bit hard to leave, I feel it has given me increased access to tools I need to use to keep my recovery going.
M.K.I went to Sabino for treatment of PTSD which had manifested as daily migraine headaches. I did not go for addiction. The trauma recovery program is amazing and was effective in treating my headaches. It is the first time that I truly felt that I was understood. The staff evaluated my issues and individualized my treatment. I have never met a more caring and empathetic group of professionals. They truly care for their patients and advocate for their wellness. I am migraine free for the first time in four years! Thank you Sabino.
JoseEverything was great. The staff caters to your every need and want by way of their highly professional and organized staff that facilitates a highly curated environment. Couldnt have asked for anything more. The campus is absolutely beautiful, and the staff is highly trained ans knowledgeable. The facility fostered healing very well. There were very few weaknesses. The facility had every possible amenity imaginable.
ScottEveryone is earnestly dedicated to their client's well-being, and varied treatment options allows for the resident to find his/her best pathway. Everyone there cares deeply about their mission. The priority of the staff seems honestly to be firstly the lasting well-being of their clients. Some of the approaches were predictable and platitudinous. The people were always compassionate, but not all of the assumptions under which they practice are necessarily apt to all.
DHFI have been to several treatment centers on my journey. Finding Sabino Recovery has been life changing for me. The incredibly caring and thoughtful staff has created a space for genuine healing to take place. For the first time I was able to comfortably open up about my past and the experiences that had been imprisoning me for far too long. I gained the tools to handle every situation I was faced with and it was finally something other than acting out with drugs, alcohol, and other poor decisions. The difference was that the staff at Sabino took the time to learn about my unique situation and created a treatment program just for me. My stay was filled with tons of individual treatment such as EMDR, Somatic Experience Therapy, esotherapy (Amazing!), acupuncture, and massage. Everything is done with intention and focused on healing the deepest parts of your soul. In addition, the setting provides fantastic scenery and outdoor adventures. The rooms are spacious, recently renovated, and very comfortable. They even do their best to give you a private room! To top the whole thing off, Chef Tommy and his staff prepare every meal from scratch and are willing to go above and beyond to accommodate everyone's dietary needs. The food is a definite highlight! The only negative is that I couldn't stay forever! I have been to several treatment centers on my journey. Finding Sabino Recovery has been life changing for me. SOTheir number won strength is the quality of the staff followed closely by the facilities and the natural beauty of the location. And the food was terrific! Someone very close to me dealing with substance abuse spent 35 days at Sabino Recovery and it changed her life. She especially responded well to the Equine Therapy offered there.
CCThese employees are absolutely remarkable in their devotion to doing the right thing for the residents. Because the facility is small, the number of residents is also small which provides both a more peaceful and quiet environment as well an opportunity to individualize treatment and family-like setting. Because each resident's program is reviewed every day by the clinical team, schedules change regularly and some of the residents initially feel bothered by that. Transformation happens here and it is a joy and privilege to get to be a part of it!
DBSabino Recovery is very nurturing environment where residents feel at ease to let their guard down. It's on a beautiful campus with a genuinely caring staff. Deep healing occurs here. At this time, Sabino Recovery doesn't offer levels of care other than residential. It's difficult to convey how powerful treatment here is without sounding cliche. People really discover who they are and begin to thrive here.
TmStaff is genuinely caring! Food is awesome! They need to get their name out more. I've worked at multiple treatment centers, and Sabino Recovery is far and away the best. The transformation of the residents is magic to watch and makes me proud to be a part of.
ElmExcellent counselors and staff. Wonderful holistic program. I would highly recommend this outpatient treatment facility. Beautiful, relaxing setting and amazing staff.
CFHighly qualified staff, exceptional treatment options tailored to each individual's specific needs, approaches treatment through wide range of modalities to strengthen & heal client from all angles of life. Sabino Recovery is absolutely outstanding!!! Sabino Recovery is an extraordinary treatment center. Their exceptional staff are fully invested in tailoring individual treatment programs for each client's needs. They have an excellent screening process, gorgeous facilities, beautiful food, extremely comfy beds, but most of all the treatment team & staff are just amazing. I was amazed at my transformation and recoveries I witnessed. World class experience!
JNTherapists, accommodations, outdoor activities. Amazing, life changing recovery center. Have been sober over a year!
TRSabino Recovery has developed a program for trauma recovery that most other facilities do not offer. Sabino Recovery is a newer facility and just beginning to receive recognition nationally and internationally. Sabino Recovery has staff who are truly invested in recovery for each individual who receives or is seeking treatment.
EQAll of the modalities are very helpful. The staff is amazing at handling every aspect of treatment. Very relaxing surroundings. The beds are super comfy too! I was nervous to go to a treatment center because I wasnt sure what to expect. I was a shut-in alcoholic with a timeline of trauma and abuse that I had never dealt with through the years. If I didnt get help I was on the path to drinking myself to death. Everything from the intake calls to my first few days getting settled were just what I needed. A calm and encouraging voice and caring people that were there to help me feel comfortable enough to start the healing process. I truly cant say enough wonderful things about all of the staff. They were genuinely interested in my specific needs. I experienced several therapies that were extremely helpful to me, including equine therapy, neuro-feedback and EMDR. Art therapy was wonderful as well. Creative writing, Esotherapy, cranialsacral and massages were also some of my favorites. These modalities, along with the awesome therapists really made the beginning of my journey a huge success! Im over 6 weeks sober now and I feel like I have a new lease on life! Im so grateful for Sabino and my resident mates as well. I cant wait to go back for the alumni celebration next year__
CFSabino Recovery was strongly recommended to me by a lifelong friend who is a professional in the industry (with no affiliation to Sabino). She said she was blown away by the transformations she'd witnessed of her own clients attending Sabino, and knowing I was in a critical place, she wanted the best for me. As an alum with months of healing under my belt I can tell you that Sabino Recovery merits every bit of that strong recommendation and more. I had access to highly qualified professionals who are fully invested in each client's treatment. There is a very strong team at Sabino and the client is at the center of that team always. The variety of modalities used for treatment is impressive, effective and realistic ... approaching the healing process from all angles of life. Sabino is quietly leading the new way forward in long-term life transformations. If you or a loved one are considering a treatment program, choose Sabino Recovery.
LKUntil I decided I was willing to go to any lengths to stay sober and learn healthy tools to cope with my fears, I did not begin to heal, be present, and live life on life’s terms. SR provided an amazing foundation to my recovery process. During my stay as a resident, I met some of the most loving competent compassionate recovery staff and the most trustworthy safe fun group of residents, I could have ever imagined. I was able to be my true self without feeling as though I was being judged. SR’s program met my needs beyond expectations. Was everything perfect every moment of my stay? Of course not. But, it was perfect enough that I miss (just about) everyone I encountered, the daily therapies/activities, and the facility itself almost 2 yrs later of my stay in 2016. Again, SR helped lay the foundation for my recovery (with individual, small group therapy, alternative therapies: EMDR, somatic sensory experience, massage, yoga, equine, and the list goes on). It was then up to me to make a decision to continue on my journey of recovery and practice what I had learned at SR. I am proud to say I am more comfortable in my own skin then I have ever been in my life. SR was truly the jump start I needed to stay sober, save my life, not injure another human being’s life, mend relationships, and go to sleep at night/wake up without paralyzing/crippling/debilitating/agonizing fear of what lies ahead. I went through an extremely difficult rough patch shortly after leaving SR. I called SR asking for help. The CEO returned my call almost immediately with suggestions of how to proceed and move forward with my recovery. I took his suggestions to heart, and acted on them immediately. The staff has been by my side, when I’ve asked for help or wanted to make a connection ever since my stay. Honestly! ! I am still in contact with many of he residents that I met during my stay, with whom I’ll always consider a part of my extended family no matter what. The SR staff and residents know a huge part of me that most others don’t. They have accepted the good and not so good. Again, SR is not a instant/quick fix. I had to want to stay sober and healthy. So, I continue living with a daily personal recovery program that works for me. Much of it includes things that I learned about myself, from others, and from the multitude of therapies at SR. Recovery is a daily part of my life, and I embrace it. Everyone could be in recovery from something. SR is my place where it all began. And, for that, I will always be grateful.
JohnOAs an alumnus of Sabino Recovery, I have to say that my experience here was life-changing! When I arrived, I had a vague expectation of what I would accept as a successful treatment stay, but the reality of my experience was so much more than anything I had ever imagined! I was treated for rage disorder, major depression, trauma/PTSD and work addiction. Additionally, I had no real memory recall of my past. The Sabino community helped me to develop healthy tools to manage my emotions and experiences in a truly nurturing environment. The work was not easy, but I could not have done it without the entire Sabino community! The staff and residents create a safe, healthy family environment within which to do the work, and support you through the hard times and your accomplishments. I have no reservations whatsoever about fully endorsing and recommending Sabino Recovery! It may not be for everyone, but it was certainly exactly what I needed to heal! Thank you, my Sabino family!!
JessVery professional, compassionate care. Trama, ptsd treatment food and beds were incredible.
DESabino Recovery is truly a remarkable recovery center. When you arrive and see the property you realize what dedication the owners and staff have done to create an environment of space, comfort and use of nature to enhance the recovery process. All areas are extremely clean and well organized for patients comfort and security. The staff, roughly 4 for each patient, is very attentive and personal. Never have i felt more cared for by listening to my deepest problems. I felt like my issues were personally addressed, and by visiting with other patients, they felt the same way. The accommodations, food, ropes course, pool and equine facilities are very good and add to the experience. I would highly recommend this treatment center, Reluctantly i have attended numerous centers and hope this is the last.
E.F.The experience I had with making connections with the other residents in treatment was priceless. I hope to keep in contact with these ones I met. In regards to the administration I would have to say I am very disappointed. The whole concept of the program is “ We got you”. When I needed them to be there for me they were not there. The C.E.O. is one of the most impersonable persons I’ve ever met. The first interaction I had with him was when I was talking to another staff member and he rudely interrupted us. He never introduced himself to me. It’s a smaller facility, and they praise themselves as being different from other treatment facilities. Yet the experience and vibe I received from him and other management staff where not compassionate but business focused. Prior to an early discharge I had asked for a meeting with the C.E.O. and clinical Director to discuss financial matters. The intake coordinator and the intake process went smoothly, however when I met him in person he also was suddenly different. He projected himself also as being very cold forwards me at any interaction in person he avoided eye contact. Staff eat in the dinning room every meal with patients, so there is plenty of possible interaction . Staff eat at separate tables and there is for sure a division between staff and residents. There are some outstanding people that work at Sabino such as the Techs which they refer to them as BHPPs, the therapists, and nurses . The facility often smelled of sewer and skunk. I would strongly discourage you from coming here if you are sensitive to smells. The dinning room and other common areas never got clean and I would discourage you to come here if cleanliness is of importance to you. The ceiling fans in the dinning room where you eat are so dusty and dirty and the buildings are old and need much updates / remodeling. I would not recommend this place to others based on my experience. But if you do choose to go here, connection with your peers is part of the therapeutic process especially when you go home. Having some of community helps with healing.
KLHI attended this facility in the summer of 2017 for PTSD and issues related to an abusive relationship. Most people who were enrolled with me during my stay were seeking treatment for similar issues. I am a well-educated (PhD), thoughtful professional and it was very important to me to choose a facility that was safe, respectful and effective. I thoroughly research all facilities before choosing Sabino and it has been a life changer for me. The entire facility and all staff were very trauma informed. They treated me with loving kindness and respect during my entire stay. I was there for relatively severe PTSD and never once felt unsafe. The staff took great measure to assure that anything that could trigger me was introduced very slowly, at my pace and with my permission. They also worked diligently to assure that the other residents were appropriate for the setting. All of the therapies and therapist were exemplar in their offerings to include clinical therapy, art therapy, equine therapy, art therapy, acupuncture, somatic experiencing, neuro-therapy, etc. The para-professions who assist 24/7 were remarkable well trained and extremely sensitive and helpful. I too was very concerned about paying 46k for treatment. I wondered if I would walk away worse and or if the treatment inside a contained, secure setting would have any longer term effects. It has been almost 120 days since I've left and I am making progress in so many areas of my life that I never thought possible. Day by day I am growing stronger and healing beyond measure. I attribute this to many things but nothing more influential than the healing, loving therapeutic milieu provided to me by Sabino Recovery. This facility is worth every penny and then some and is unlike any other treatment program available. I highly recommend.
DHFSabino Recovery provides something that no other treatment center can; a unique experience tailored to your unique story. There is a common thread among the residents, most are deeply connected by their stories. However, the staff and leadership at Sabino takes the time to learn about each person's past and create a program tailored to their needs. There is no "cookie-cutter" approach. Within the first few hours it becomes clearly evident that Sabino Recovery understands how to treat an individual. Whether needing treatment for primary trauma only, or addiction as well, I have found no place quite like the safe and healing community that Sabino has created. I would highly recommend this program to anyone who is seeking quality treatment. Whether it is your first time, or you have tried the traditional model of treatment and it hasn't worked, Sabino Recovery can completely change your life.
CCCompassion, respect, and genuine kindness permeates Sabino Recovery. The program is small, which is especially important to those who have trauma, the setting is peaceful and serene and the staff is as devoted as one could imagine. The staff guides without pushing, teaches without force or fear and lights a path to recovery. There are so many resources and they offer so many ways for residents to overcome the obstacles that are holding them back from a full life.
BAI attended this place in 2016. While the environment was great, the quality of the therapists I worked with was downright awful and there was a great disregard for confidentiality from the get go. The facility failed to provide basic safety for residents; safety is a prerequisite for any healing work. The director was a trembling quivering wreck. It is no surprise to me that almost all of the staff team from that time have jumped ship. I do have to say that I did encounter some examples of good practice, and met some genuinely ethical therapists, but they were in the minority.
NEWe were also. sold a bill of goods. My daughter went ther, paid 46 thousand dollars and came home worse. They have no aftercare program they just send you home with a ridiculous piece of paper. No follow up, and all they wanted was my daughters $. The day she she left, she told her counselor that she felt like ending her life, and they let her go anyway. I would urge anyone with severe emotional problems to never go there
MOstaff ratio is excellent facility if clean food is healthy and excellent safe enviroment . One year ago in March my world changed unexpectedly. I was an innocent victim in an armed robbery on the Pennsylvania Turnpike where a guard, a co-worker and the robber were all killed. I was the fortunate one, but this came with many emotions which turned into PTSD, trauma, anxiety and depression. My wife looked for a full-time rehab that offered a plan based on my personal needs to help treat the trauma and all the symptoms that were making my life unbearable. From the moment we arrived for admission until my very last day I was shown the most respect, love kindness and SAFE environment possible. Sabino's attention to a one-to-one ration, plus the focus of my main concern, PTSD, was amazing. We searched many facilities on the east coast and were not successful. I believe the treatment Sabino Recovery has in place should be modeled across the country! They only hire the best of the best employees. Now the Emotions: I am so confident I am leaving here a better man, better husband, and I am very, very grateful! As I leave and return to my life, I will miss my many friends I have made with my fellow residents and staff. Every staff member had so much encouragement and love to give daily. Be kind to everyone make the smallest difference where you can. It's never too late for a better tomorrow! LIFE TAKES TO YOU UNEXPECTED PLACES...BUT LOVE TAKES YOU TO SABINO!!!
CodyI can only say this. At Sabino recovery I got something called a 'Gift'. A gift of Life. Sabino Recovery gave me the tools to get through life without turning to substance to numb the pain from previous traumas in my life. I could not be more satisfied with the treatment they offer. There is tremendous amount of opportunities at Sabino Recovery to reconnect with who you truly are. The treatment teams, therapist, and activities are excellent!
C.Compassion, Hope, Kindness. While at Sabino Recovery, I experience and received a life changing gift that will forever stay in my heart! From the compassionate staff that always have their arms extended to help, to the breathe taking astonishing desert views. Sabino Recovery is truly a place of healing. I learned not only that I could do recovery with a supportive community, but I also learned how to love MYSELF again and get through the day without numbing the feelings that I did not want to feel with a substance. I would strongly recommend this place for anyone that has gone through a trauma that they are struggling with. This is a wonderful place!
DSJThe staff was excellent, particularly their use of new and different therapeutic tools, particularly Esotherapy. The one thing lacking in the program was aftercare. No aftercare plans were made with the assistance of the staff, and upon completion of the program residents are left with no way of directly following through with their treatment, particularly no way to seek further treatment or support long distance by telephone or internet because the staff is prohibited from working with residents for 1 year after the resident's release. While this may be an industry standard, the program really needs to provide residents with alternatives for aftercare with MH professionals who can stay in contact with the staff in order to assist the resident's transition back to regularly life.
SusanI attended Sabino recovery against my will. It was court ordered so that I could get out of jail for stalking and harassing communication. I'm a lawyer. I had already been to a rehab in Georgia and comparatively, Sabino is incredible. The food is top notch. The quality of people I met there was great. People come there from all over the country and one was there from overseas. I had a room to myself which was great. I enjoyed the hikes, the yoga, the sessions, but I honestly was not completely pleased with my trauma therapist for reasons I won't go into here. My entire reason for being there was email. EMAILS!! I sent email after email to the wrong people in power after I was told to stop and I was arrested. I was ready to leave and go home to my family after the 35 days were up and my therapist suggested another 2 weeks and I absolutely refused.. I was angry and refused.. She called my husband before letting me know she wanted me to stay when I was counting down the days before I could get on a plane and leave. I really didn't understand why I had to be there to begin with and I still to this day don't fully understand all the charges against me and I'm a lawyer.. Go figure. The scenery is beautiful and the canyon is amazing. The cost is very high but its a great facility, the food is great, the programs are great and the staff is very high caliber.
RaleeWe were sold a "bill of goods". My daughter came home not only on more meds than she left here with, but in worse shape. After being told she was not a good fit, we were told she was difficult and taking up too much of the therapist's time. Well, of course she's difficult-she's an addict. I will come back later when I have my thoughts more clearly organized, right now I'm so mad, I feel I'm not going to make much sense. I just want to warn those who may be tempted as I was with the "state of the art" facilities, holistic views, dedication to treatment, promise to "reduce prescribed meds to nearly none"-please seek help elsewhere. We are out a whole lot of money with very little improvement and still desperate to get help for our acknowledged "difficult" daughter. Communication by staff was poor, follow thru on treatments were terrible and frankly, somewhat strange-a "Dr."(not a Dr. at all as it turned out) diagnosed a disease and we were told(by daughter) there was to be follow up bloodwork and testing-week 2, mind you, never to hear another word on the subject. When I mentioned this to her severely overworked therapist(under 20 clients at the time/staff of nearly 50) he'd had no clue what I was talking about, and still no follow through. Week 2-3 we were told that they recommended another 35 days(at $1300/day-we were willing, stupidly) and by week 4 they couldn't get her out of there fast enough. Staff made sure she knew she was no longer wanted-great for a kid's self-esteem, btw. I know she is a hard case, been at for 7 years so she's quite adept to all the "tricks of the addicts' trade", but they said they'd heard and seen it all, nothing new to them-of course, this was before I'd paid $30,000 cash. Apparently, she knew 2 others who'd already been asked to leave early, conveniently, after being showcased on "The Doctor's"-she said all of a sudden there were a lot of new patients coming in...which therapist verified to me-then vigorously took back this comment a day later(I suspect after the daily staff meeting). So yes I'm sure this does sound like sour grapes-but there is truly something strange and disorganized about this place-my recommendation is run, don't walk from this one.
PTBThis is a wonderful caring facility. As a former patient I can say the accommodations are excellent. The food is terrific But go for the he staff. They are all kind and living individuals.
T HThe kind, nurturing, compassionate staff and the extremely individualized plan for each resident were strengths. Some of the buildings are not aesthetically pleasing. The fact that Sabino Recovery really gets to the underlying issue is remarkable. Their Sabino Model is beyond successful.
R R JEmpathy, Consistency, Nurturing, were all strengths. Open Campus was a weakness. Wonderful treatment
KLDSabino Recovery is a state of the art treatment facility like no other. I have worked in this field for 30 years and find Sabino Recovery to be cutting edge with research in neuro science and holistic, integrative treatment offering the very best of care. The basis of this program is built on compassion, empathy, and nurturing. Our residents are constantly engaged in program and embrace a sense of community. Being at Sabino Recovery is about hope and healing.
TaiSabino recovery completely saved my life. It is an amazing cutting edge treatment center The staff is amazing, absolutely the best in their respective fields. To be completely honest, I miss it. Sabino's model should be leading the way in world recovery.
