Patel Ranjan PSY.D- MFT

Been doing telemedicine with her for a while, and due to finances, I wanted very short term therapy and though I tried to pin her down on how many sessions I'd need, she refused to give me that, which looking back, I understand. Lucky for me, I was in and out in eight visits, which my work covered partially. I was initially on the fence about seeing her because of her fee (she's more expensive than the other therapist I checked with), but I went with my gut because when I talked to her over the phone, she not only took her time and spent as long as I needed, for free, but she actively told me that she encouraged me to reach out to other therapists so I wouldn't haveI've to pay more than I'm comfortable with, she gave me some referrals. But I decided to see her and it's been worth it; she gives assignments and structure because I asked for it, and also talked to my psychiatrist, which helped me feel like I have a team.

Discovery Point Retreat

Discovery Point was nothing short of a life changing experience. These are truly a group of people who genuinely care about your Recovery. The friends I made while during my stay I still talk to daily and we support each other and have friendships that will last forever. The food is really good so hats off to the chefs! The house is really comfortable and always clean. I truly was able to find myself because I was lost and broken but now I am centered and sober and taking big steps in life! I highly recommend this spot if you want to help yourself and start recovering. Thank you Discovery Point for changing my life. I love you guys!

Select Sherman Recovery Facilities
Sherman, Texas is a small town with limited industry, but it does have multiple major highways running through it. Over the past few decades, there have been many alcohol-related incidents on Texas freeways. According to Alcohol Alert, in 2009, 47 percent of the 3,000+ accidents that occurred in the state attributed alcohol as one of the causes.

Tips for Preventing Drunk Driving

Drunk driving is preventable. You can put a stop to it by taking the following steps:
  • Take away the keys of friends and family members who have been drinking excessively.
  • Offer to be the designated driver.
  • Call a cab for someone who is clearly intoxicated.
  • Call the police when someone is insisting on driving drunk.
  • Watch the alcohol intake of loved ones.

Comparing Residential and Outpatient recovery program Facilities

While drunk driving is preventable, the only way to truly guarantee that someone won’t drive drunk is to help them overcome their alcoholism. There are treatment options available including residential and outpatient facilities. For someone with a history of alcoholism, residential facilities may have the greatest benefit. Remaining in the facility 24/7 removes any opportunity for alcoholics to drive drunk, or place themselves in any situation where they are at risk of physical harm or legal consequences.

Choosing a Sherman Rehab Facility

If you know someone whose life has been ruined by alcoholism, take steps to get them the help they require. If residential treatment is not a viable option, outpatient facilities are also available in the Sherman area.
