Discovery Point Retreat

They Accomadated every need for My Son from Day he made his decision to seek help. He flew to Texas and was picked up at the airport by staff. I was allowed to see him the very next day, visitation were just about over but they let us have a visit anyways. Rooms are spacious and may not be a facility as someone stated but the House is Large, spacious, clean, and just has that home, secure, quiet, inviting feel. The are is perfect quiet and serene. Therapy and couseling on site my son loved everything about the way the had control of everything that was in his best interest. The staff, The Chef, The People i always knew how his progress was coming along and even included in therapy sessions. My son understand about addiction, the triggers, the control and the reason and maintains his sobriety, contact with others that were also in treatment with him, He considers all of them as family. Everyone there made him feel so comfortable, important and loved. At check out it took us all day for him to get everything together because he was truly going to miss Everything and Everyone, ( The Food) The outings, The Therapy, The couseling . The Owners, Management, The Staff I commend on The excellent job they are doing The are all Truly a Blessing. Strengths: Their knowledge in all areas of helping everyone. Knowing exactly what each persons individual needs are from The addiction ,the emotional, therapeutic, dietary. Weakness: Sober Living facility. I think my son was probably sent to the worst one. Was told he had to have a job within 2 weeks or going to be kicked out while another individual was there before him, still there and still unemployed. My son working 3rd shift going to sleep at 6 a.m. was woken up anyways for meditation at 7 even though he just worked at 12 hour shifts ( inconsiderate) people were eating his groceries. And managers of the house had dogs and dog hair everywhere and were offended that he mention about the dogs being all over furniture. Cardinal House of Dalls/Garland definitely Not recommended and was really in awe that Discovery Point Retreat would even be affiliated with a place like that. That would be the only negative on them with me.

Investigate Annapolis Recovery Programs
Not only is Annapolis, Maryland the capital of the state and a thriving hub for tourism, it’s also the headquarters of the US Naval Academy. Although just over 38,000 make Annapolis their home, many more pass through the city each year. One of the benefits of having such a strong military and tourism presence is that the state of Maryland has enacted a number of measures to halt risky behavior as a result of drug abuse.

No doubt these measures are important, but learning about drug rehab in Annapolis can be just as important to putting an end to drugged driving and drug-related deaths.

Maryland Recovery Statistics

  • In 2011, 15,630 out of 63,708 treatment admissions were for heroin abuse.
  • Marijuana abuse was the second most common reason for treatment.
  • About 28.5 percent of amphetamines treatment was for patients 26 to 30 years old.
  • Just over 10,000 people were admitted for alcohol abuse as well.

These statistics from 2011, and more stats can be found via SAMHSA.

The Pros and Cons of Holistic and Traditional Rehab Clinics

The success rate of a rehab program is one of the first questions many ask when trying to choose a treatment regimen. It’s often difficult to say for sure what has the better success rate, since success in a program can vary based on what addiction is being treated.

Addictions that can cause life-threatening withdrawal symptoms often need a treatment program that is willing to intervene with medical treatment.

Programs that are willing to intervene in this way are considered more traditional in terms of treatment, where holistic rehab clinics often prefer to keep the body free of all toxins, including medications. Holistic programs, however, work to change every part of their patient’s life, not just their addiction. There are many programs that offer a blend of both a traditional and holistic approach.
